Types of food storage

  1. 1. TYPES OF FOOD STORAGE

INTRODUCTION  Food storage is very helpful to store foods to keep it fresh.  You need to store food in appropriate self storage area to prevent bacteria, rats, insects from multiplying.  You should always follow the food storage instructions on the food labels.  It is totally depends on the food that in which kind of storage it’ll going to be stored.  There are several types of storage options as mentioned in next slide.

DRY STORAGE  Self storage has one kind of food storage known as Dry Storage.  Dry Storage is for ‘dry’ foods which have a long shelf life and they can be kept at room temperature.  Examples of such foods are flour, tea, coffee, dried pasta, sugar, canned foods, biscuits, rice and other uncooked grains.
  4. 4. COLD STORAGE  The other self storage type is cold storage.  Cold storage is for foods that must be kept in the refrigerator or cool room below 5.c.
  5. 5. FROZEN STORAGE  The frozen storage is used to store foods which need to be kept frozen solid at -15.c or colder.
