I. Introduction
1.1 Introduction & Assumptions of Job Analysis and Design
While working in an organisation we further come to know about various positions and
their relative importance with that of concerned department. For people associated with
Human Resource Department Job Analysis & Design is a continuous activity as lots of
people are in search of good job opportunities so employee turnover is not a new thing
for them.
Job Analysis & Design are the most powerful tools for HR people for effective
Manpower Planning as these 2 aspects are directly associated with new job creation as
well as increase in responsibilities for an existing job, and to evaluate need of sound
professionals for a particular job in an organisation.
Job Analysis & Design though associated with each other each activity has its own
importance. Indeed both of them are inseparable from each other in HRM prospective
for sure.
This report is a honest attempt to throw some light on Job Analysis & Design aspects
with respect to well known job positions in market. Though while preparing this report
basic assumption are taken into consideration like designation, possible responsibilities
associated with the job, sector to which job is related,etc.

1.2 What Is A Job Analysis?
Job Analysis is a process of studying positions, describing the duties & responsibilities that
go with particular job & grouping similar positions into the job categories.
Importance of Job Analysis-
1) For Recruitment, selection, placement & employee counselling.
2) For Job evaluation & salary determination.
3) For identifying vacant, open & expanded as well as reduced positions.
4) For Job design & redesign.
5) For Training need analysis.
1.3What Is A Job Design?
Job Design is a process which incorporates/combines different tasks and merged such tasks to
form a complete job. Job Design is an outcome of factors like Work Content (Tasks,
Functions and Relationships), Rewards & Qualification.
Importance of Job Design-
1) To meet organizational requirements like higher productivity, operational efficiency
& quality product/services.
2) To satisfy the needs of the individual employees like challenges, achievement, interest
etc.
3) To integrate the needs of the individuals with that of organizational requirement.

1.4 Objective Of Study
To Study Job Analysis & Design process with the help of some real life examples provided
from industry & to know the basics of good job analysis & design process.
1.5 Importance of Study
From HR student prospective study of Job Analysis & Design will provide valuable insights
in terms of understanding the entire process of Job Analysis & Design. It will also measure
the direct correlation of Job Analysis & Design with that of other HR functions like
Manpower Planning, Training & Development, Organizational Changes, etc.Also students
will be immensely benefitted when they apply for jobs after completion of studies while
opting for carrier options.

powered two-wheelers, computer peripherals, financial
services, contract manufacturing services and software
development.
TVS Motor Company Ltd (TVS Motor), member of the TVS group, is the largest company of
the group in terms of size and turnover.
Job Description:
Position Overview:
Reporting to the President & Chief Marketing Officer the Vice President of Marketing is
responsible for developing & executing a clearly defined marketing & communication
strategy in a manner that supports consistent business growth & enhances brand equity &
awareness. This position is responsible for Planning, Organizing, Staffing, Training and

managing all marketing functions to achieve the Company Objectives of sales, growth,
profitability & visibility while ensuring a consistent marketing message & leader position
consistent with the corporate direction.
Responsibilities:
 Create, manage, execute & co-ordinate all marketing strategies & implement tactical
plans that meet & exceed company expectations.
 Develop unique value preposition, Business partnership as well as call to action
oriented advertising targeted toward key customer segment that increases brand
awareness.
 Lead & manage Directing Marketing, Public Relation, Advertising, Online
Marketing and Event Marketing.
 Achieve targeted results and ensure timely & effective execution of marketing tactics
& programmes
 Conduct & analyze market research to determine competitiveness.
 Measure the effectiveness of the marketing department and implement improvement
as required.
 Identify, interpret and capitalize on marketing trends.
 Work closely with Product Development, Sales & other senior executives to create
demand and recognition for the Company & its product.
Job Essentials:
 12 years with 7 years in progressive Marketing role at the senior management level.
 University diploma or degree in business, MBA preferred.
 Excellent communication & negotiation skills.
 Strong analytical, planning, forecasting and budgeting/financial skills.
 Respectful and outstanding leadership skills that motivates staff to exceed
expectations.

Vice President is report & responsible to President of the company & get reports from
Zonal Head Marketing for daily operations in marketing. President & Zonal Head
Marketing work responsibilities will be discussed follows,
President
Position Overview:
President will closely collaborate with and support the business strategies of other
stakeholders, including the President of Media, the Vice President of International and the
Senior Vice President of Product.
The President must also have strong analytical skills and be detail oriented. Must be able to
embrace data and metrics, make findings, draw conclusions from those findings, and then be
able to communicate those conclusions in an executive dashboard format that can be readily
understood by others. The President will also collaborate closely members of the product
development team.
Responsibilities:
 Own the company portfolio of brands and brand strategy.
 Own corporate communications and the public relations process; write press releases;
develop messaging strategies; oversee development of strong marketing and sales
collateral.
 Work closely with the Vice President of Marketing and Product Development team to
drive global adoption & craft and manage communications and programs that drive
engagement.
 Analyze company data and metrics, draw conclusions there from and communicate
those conclusions clearly to others in an executive dashboard.
 Plan and administer the company’s overall marketing operations budget; manage all
external vendors and consultants.
 Develop and administer a marketing database, to include client and prospect
information, mailing lists, market reports, emails etc.
 Lead, guide and mentor internal marketing teams; make staffing and hiring decisions.
 Work closely with all business owners on profitability across product lines.

Job Essentials:
 15 years of proven success developing and packaging media content, with at least 8 years
related to social, interactive media. Digital community and/or platform experience also
desired.
 University diploma or degree in business, MBA preferred.
 Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; excellent organizational
skills.
 Ability to understand business lines and cost structures, define pricing and refine
channel strategies, and create dashboards that monitor metrics for success.
 Ability to think strategically and with high degree of creativity, but also detail-
oriented with the ability to manage projects from inception through execution.
Zonal Head Marketing
Position Overview:
Zonal Head Marketing act as a connecting link to Vice President Marketing on various
strategies adopted by company to successfully meet the consumer expectations and to provide
valuable insights for particular region in terms of marketing plan.
Responsibilities:
 Develop marketing Plan for (pricing, channels and promotions0 separately for each
state.
 Ensure achievement of the Sales Targets of each state on a month to month basis
(Sales, Revenue Growth, New Customers, Product-mix, Price, Dealer network,
collections / outstanding).
 Develop distribution channel, through personal contacts and effort. Ensure movement
of products through the channels. Monitor Dealers / Distributors.
 Carry out demos, customer meets etc. to create new business
 Ensure customer satisfaction at all times.
 Create, develop, train, nurture and motivate the Sales, Marketing & CRM Teams.
Train and develop the team.
 Continuously monitor their performance, and take appropriate corrective action as and
when required.
 Continuously monitor Competition, Demand, Market trends and potential threats.

Job Essentials:
 Minimum of bachelor's degree/3 years diploma in Mechanical /automobile
engineering or related field from recognized university.
 Demonstrated ability of identifying new product requirement in after market,
demand forecasting & study of competition's pricing, strategy, packaging,
sales promotion etc.
 Strong knowledge about automobile engine systems and parts. Product
knowledge- Features and manufacturing process.
 Demonstrated skills & abilities to apply principles of product management.
 Demonstrated knowledge of quality & inspection procedures and systems.
 Good computer knowledge of MS office, ERP SAP and web.
 Excellent analytical & statistical skills.
 Ability to work under pressure to consistently achieve high reslts through
individual & team efforts.
 Excellent proven leadership skills.
 Excellent in partnering with various cross-functional departments and external
agencies with strong strategic vision abilities.

Vice President Finance
Responsibilities:
 Advise the president and other key members of senior management on financial
planning budgeting, cash flow, investment priorities, and policy matters.
 Serve as the management liaison to the board and audit committee; effectively
communicate and present critical financial matters at select board of directors and
committee meetings.
 Contribute to the development of goals and objectives as well as the overall
management of the organization.
 Maintain continuous lines of communication, keeping the president informed of all
critical financial issues.
 Represent the organization externally, as necessary, particularly in banking and lease
negotiations.
 Oversee, direct, and organize the work of the finance and operations teams.
 Improve administrative and operational accounting services such as payment
processing, payroll, accounts payable, and purchasing.
 Upgrade and implement an appropriate system of policies, internal controls,
accounting standards, and procedures.
Vice President Operations (Aviation)
Responsibilities:
 As a senior member of the top leadership team, contribute to the overall strategic
direction and business plan.
 Based on the broad direction provided by the strategic plan, develop and gain
approval for the airline’s annual operating plan and operating budget.
 Manage ongoing operating performance against the plans and budgets above, on a
quarterly, monthly and weekly basis.

 Oversee the day-to-day operations of the carrier, ensuring adherence to high levels of
safety, customer service and on-time and cost performance.
 Serve as the key catalyst for introducing efficient thinking, approaches, practices,
processes, tools and systems into the airline.
 Ensure that the airline meets all government and corporate regulations and policies on
an ongoing basis. Address potential deviations immediately.
 Ensure that the airline has full emergency preparedness. Lead and manage the
response process if and when emergencies occur.
 Negotiate and oversee important third-party service arrangements with maintenance
service providers, ground handling agents, airport operators and other parties.
 Manage and continuously improve operational performance on key dimensions such
as completion factor, on-time performance, customer satisfaction, and employee
satisfaction and morale.

2.3 Relative Worth of the Particular Job Discussed
(Vice President)
Every position within the organization has its own value/worth which is directly related with
the nature of work and responsibilities attached to that particular job designation. As far as
Vice President of any organization is concerned such posts are of high reputation and of great
responsibilities associated with them.
Indeed Vice President has to be a person with core vision and a good planner for upcoming
future ventures of organization to maintain the leader’s position of organization in potential
market. Also other aspects like quality of service, target completion, directives to various
teams working, brand imaging, good consumer relations are important aspects related with
Vice President Designation.
Thus we can definitely say that Vice President & other associated posts in an organization are
of importance to organization and are essentials factors in operational success of the
company.

Job Analysis & Job Design as discussed earlier play important role while working in
Human Resource as certain aspects like Manpower Planning, new job creation as well as
increase in responsibilities for an existing job and evaluation of need of sound
professionals for a particular job in an organisation are associated with them.
As the advancement in technological area is continuously changing the way HR
activities are planned & implemented in organizations still activities like Job Analysis &
Job Design are proven to be core activities for success of good HRM Model within the
organization.

Introduction 1.1 Introduction & Assumptions of Job Analysis and Design While working in an organisation we further come to know about various positions and their relative importance with that of concerned department. For people associated with Human Resource Department Job Analysis & Design is a continuous activity as lots of people are in search of good job opportunities so employee turnover is not a new thing for them. Job Analysis & Design are the most powerful tools for HR people for effective Manpower Planning as these 2 aspects are directly associated with new job creation as well as increase in responsibilities for an existing job, and to evaluate need of sound professionals for a particular job in an organisation. Job Analysis & Design though associated with each other each activity has its own importance. Indeed both of them are inseparable from each other in HRM prospective for sure. This report is a honest attempt to throw some light on Job Analysis & Design aspects with respect to well known job positions in market. Though while preparing this report basic assumption are taken into consideration like designation, possible responsibilities associated with the job, sector to which job is related,etc.

Job Analysis is a process of studying positions, describing the duties & responsibilities that go with particular job & grouping similar positions into the job categories. Importance of Job Analysis- 1) For Recruitment, selection, placement & employee counselling. 2) For Job evaluation & salary determination. 3) For identifying vacant, open & expanded as well as reduced positions. 4) For Job design & redesign. 5) For Training need analysis. 1.3What Is A Job Design? Job Design is a process which incorporates/combines different tasks and merged such tasks to form a complete job. Job Design is an outcome of factors like Work Content (Tasks, Functions and Relationships), Rewards & Qualification. Importance of Job Design- 1) To meet organizational requirements like higher productivity, operational efficiency & quality product/services. 2) To satisfy the needs of the individual employees like challenges, achievement, interest etc. 3) To integrate the needs of the individuals with that of organizational requirement.
