3. What kind of media institution
might distribute your media product
             and why?
Bauer Media
• I have chosen Bauer media to represent my music magazine, they have a
  very good track record for publishing magazines with many of them
  being a very big hit and being popular within their category. Bauer are a
  globally known business with connections in many markets, examples of
  magazines include Q and Kerrang.
• They would be able to market my magazine appropriately, although they
  are yet to publish a Hip Hop magazine, therefore this could be beneficial
  not only for my magazine but for Bauer, extending there publications
  into the Hip Hop category. It will be a new opportunity for the group, so
  my magazine could receive much attention with the possibility of it
  being promoted more.
• However, Bauer Media have published 300+ magazines, so it is possible
  that my magazine could not receive that much attention.
• They communicate very well with a male audience, catering magazines
  to male interests like FHM and other Football magazines.
IPC Media – A possible publisher
• IPC media have published over 60 successful magazine, reaching its audience
  through various forms of media; print, online, mobile, tablets and face to face at
  events. IPC interacts with 2/3 of women and 42% of men. With their portfolio
  reaching 25 users globally every month.

• When it comes to publishing music magazines and engaging in that area, it struggles
  to attract the type of audience that Bauer Media engages with. The only music
  magazine that stands out would be the successful NME.

• IPC engages with a more wealthy audience ‘IPC Inspire, has a wealth of leisure
  brands’ and also ‘IPC Southbank is our upmarket women division’ [taken from
  their website]. Now as my magazine is aimed at young adults living in a more
  working class environment, I feel IPC does not account for this type of lifestyle.
  Therefore the majority of their audience will be mature older listeners.

• In comparison to Bauer, they interactive with a bigger male audience, where as IPCs
  main market seems to be that of the female population interacting with 2/3 of
  them.
