An app for the iPad only (no iPhone / iPod version)
Free* and paid $4.99 / ($2.50 if > 20) version available
Highly capable, yet easy-to-use software, very popular
Can use images, sounds, videos, text, drawing within the
book
Allows user to create PDF’s, ePubs, import into iBooks
for others to download (even potentially pay!)
eBooks can be viewed on multiple devices / platforms /
content is fully controlled by publisher (you!)
Anyone can use Book Creator!
29. Your Turn!
Start the Book Creator app
Select to create NEW BOOK
Choose the book shape that you would like to work with
Click the INFO (“I” in a Circle) and select the PAGE
COLOUR
If you have songs on your iPad, you can use these as the
“SOUNDTRACK” but is not necessary
After finished tap anywhere on the page to close the
menu – no need to click OK!
31. Your Turn!
Click on the PLUS + and select ADD TEXT and create a
title for your eBook and your name
Click the INFO (“I” in a Circle) and select the text
settings
Click on the PLUS + and select PEN and create a drawing
to go with your text
As you draw, you will get the pen controls (no need for
the INFO (“I” in a Circle)
Click the arrow on the right side of the screen to add a
new page
34. Your Turn!
Leave the Book Creator app and access the CAMERA
app
With the camera in PHOTO mode, take at least 4 to 10
pictures of things somewhat related to your topic
(perhaps have someone take a picture of you, the
author too!)
Leave the Camera app and return to the Book Creator
app
Click on the PLUS + and select PHOTOS and add 1 or 2 or
more of your images to the blank eBook page
Add in text and a drawing on the blank page as well!
36. Your Turn!
Leave the Book Creator app and access the SAFARI web
browser app
Go to Google and use the images search to locate at
least 5 to 10 images related to your eBook topic
To copy the image to the PHOTOS, you need to select
the image from Google to view by taping once on the
image, and then press and hold on top of the image
until the SAVE IMAGE option menu appears
Leave the Safari web browser app and return to the
Book Creator app
38. Your Turn!
Click on the PLUS + and select SOUND and click on the
RECORD button
Add in as many recordings as you would like
Add in text and a drawing on the page as well!
40. Your Turn!
Leave the Book Creator app and access the CAMERA app
With the camera in VIDEO mode, take at least 2 to 3 short
videos of things somewhat related to your topic (perhaps
have someone take a video of you, the author too!)
Leave the Camera app and return to the Book Creator app
Click on the PLUS + and select PHOTOS and add 1 of your
videos to the blank eBook page
Add in images, text, and a drawing on the blank page as well!
46. Your Turn!
Now you have some time to work by yourself or with
some other people in the room to create your eBook.
Take your time and explore all of the capabilities of the
Book Creator software
Please ask as many questions as you like / need to
ensure that you understand how to use the software
fully!

Return to your Book Creator book collection by clicking
the MY BOOKS link
Click the INFO (“I” in a Circle) and enter the TITLE and
AUTHOR information
You can go back and edit the book further at any time in
the future just by tapping on the book title page in your
Book Creator book collection

Return to your Book Creator book collection by clicking the
MY BOOKS link
EXPORT #1 - Click the EXPORT (Rectangle with an arrow going
out of it) and select EMAIL BOOK and mail the eBook to your
email account so you can view it in the future
EXPORT #2 - Click the EXPORT (Rectangle with an arrow
going out of it) and select EXPORT PDF and EMAIL PDF and
mail the eBook to your email account so you can view it in the
future
EXPORT #3 - Click the EXPORT (Rectangle with an arrow
going out of it) and select OPEN IN ANOTHER APP and select
OPEN IN IBOOKS. If you do not have iBooks on your iPad,
download it now and try this step again in Book Creator

Reminder of student privacy issues regarding publishing
books with identifiable student information (images,
names, etc.)
ePub / PDF files can be uploaded to district SharePoint /
Moodle server for access and viewing

BookStore for free or can sell them – instructions in the
handout for where to get further information
