FORMER JUDGE ELWIN AHU ANNOUNCES HIS CANDIDACY FOR LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR
HONOLULU, HI, February 27, 2014: With family, friends and supporters at his side, former Hawaii Circuit
Court Judge and Senior Pastor Elwin Ahu formally announced his candidacy for Hawaii Lieutenant Governor
as a Republican.
In his announcement, Judge Ahu described why he is running. “The preamble to our Hawaii Constitution
succinctly sets forth the foundational framework for our beautiful Hawaiian Islands, yet so many, including
our governmental leaders, are unfamiliar with the “heart and spirit” of its provisions.”
“For several years our Constitution has been challenged, not in the judicial courts of law, but in the people’s
courts of public opinion. Our government leaders are no longer grateful, it seems, for Divine Guidance, nor
are they mindful of our Hawaiian heritage, consequently we’ve lost our uniqueness as an island State. Many
I have talked to voiced the same concerns: “That the righteous philosophy of our State motto has not been
protected, nor has it been preserved.”
Born and raised in Pearl City, Oahu in an immigrant family, Ahu went on to say, “My heart is to restore the
heart and Spirit of our beloved Constitution and rebuild the people’s trust in their own government, to return
fairness to a process that designates our leaders as public servants of the people, by the people and for the
people.”
Ahu describes his campaign as one that he hopes will draw together the hearts and spirits of all who want to
restore Hawaii’s values to what they once were.
Ahu is married to his wife Joy and has two sons.
Ahu currently serves as Senior Pastor of New Hope Metro. The campaign respectfully requests that New
Hope Metro not be contacted for campaign related requests and all media inquiries be directed to the
campaign.
