1650. La propiedad originalmente sirvió como taberna,

Located in East Hampton, just a two-hour drive from
New York City, this beautiful property was built in 1648
by a sea captain who chose the location for its central
access to the water. Thomas Baker, one of the founding
fathers of East Hampton Village, bought it two years later
and hence the name The Baker House 1650. The property
originally served as a tavern, church, inn and town hall

llamó acertadamente “As You Like It” inspirado en la
Baker House y The Carriage House.
simultaneously, but in 1911 it underwent a significant
renovation in the Elizabethan style led by a prominent
turn-of-the-century architect, Joseph Greenleaf Thorp,
with ties to the English Arts and Crafts Movement.
Coinciding with a period of Anglophilia, which even
prompted an attempt to change East Hampton’s name
back to its original Maidstone, the house was aptly
named “As You Like It” after Shakespeare’s masterwork,
at the turn of the 20th century, and dramatically
expanded in Thorp’s signature Elizabethan style which
stands to this day.
Owner and operator, Antonella Bertello acquired
the property almost 16 years ago and she lovingly
orchestrated a complete renovation to what you see and
enjoy today. The property is divided into two homes -
The Baker House and The Carriage House. Great care
has been taken to preserve the unique features of these
centuries-old houses. From their original wood and slate
floors, to the exposed hand-sewn wooden beams, the
integrity of what shaped the personality of each home
remains untouched.
The property features seven, well-appointed rooms, two
of which are luxury suites in the Baker Carriage House.

Baker Carriage House.
Time
alguien sea autorizado a dormir aquí”.
In the main house, a magnificent Colonial Revival
staircase leads to the five guest rooms; each is named
after a prominent family or East Hampton landmark
and give a hint about the décor: The Huntting Room
has a roaring fireplace and rough-hewn beams, while
The Gardiner Room is all William Morris wallpaper
and fabrics with garden views. There are two outdoor
pools and another in the subterranean Baker Spa. Guests
have access to a complimentary brunch with one of the
Hamptons top personal chefs. A full service spa and
local beach access make The Baker House one of the
most sought-after places to stay in the Hamptons.
The Baker House 1650 has been selected by Conde
Nast Johansens, as the “Most Excellent Inn of the
Americas” for several years, and was named “Inn of
the Month” by Travel and Leisure Magazine. Town
and Country said the property “offers the kind of plush
accommodations that you’d expect to find in an area
famous for its residential real estate”. Time Out New York
said “the most distinctive B&B on the East End is so
mind-boggling gorgeous that it’s hard to believe anyone
is actually allowed to sleep here”.
