A Survey on Region Extractors From Web Documents
Abstract
Extracting information from web documents has become a research area in
which new proposals sprout out year after year. This has motivated several
researchers to work on surveys that attempt to provide an overall picture of the
many existing proposals. Unfortunately, none of these surveys provide a complete
picture, since they do not take region extractors into account. These tools are kind
of preprocessors since they help information extractors focus on the regions of a
web document that contain relevant information. With the increasing complexity of
web documents, region extractors are becoming a must to extract information from
many web sites. Beyond information extraction, region extractors have also found
their way into information retrieval, focused web crawling, topic distillation,
adaptive content delivery, mashups, and Meta search engines. In this article, we
survey the existing proposals regarding region extractors and compare them side
by side.

Data Science is described as the process of knowledge extraction from large data sets by means of scientific methods. The discipline draws heavily from techniques and theories from many fields, which are jointly used to furthermore develop information retrieval on structured or unstructured very large datasets. While the term Data Science was already coined in 1960, the current perception of this field places is still in the first section of the hype cycle according to Gartner, being well en route from the technology trigger stage to the peak of inflated expectations. In our view the future development of Data Science could benefit from the analysis of experiences from related evolutionary processes. One predecessor is the area of Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The intrinsic scope of GIS is the integration and storage of spatial information from often heterogeneous sources, data analysis, sharing of reconstructed or aggregated results in visual form or via data transfer. GIS is successfully applied to process and analyse spatially referenced content in a wide and still expanding range of science areas, spanning from human and social sciences like archeology, politics and architecture to environmental and geoscientific applications, even including planetology. This paper presents proven patterns for innovation and organisation derived from the evolution of GIS, which can be ported to Data Science. Within the GIS landscape, three strategic interacting tiers can be denoted: i) Standardisation, ii) applications based on closed-source software, without the option of access to and analysis of the implemented algorithms, and iii) Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) based on freely accessible program code enabling analysis, education and ,improvement by everyone. This paper focuses on patterns gained from the synthesis of three decades of FOSS development. We identified best-practices which evolved from long term FOSS projects, describe the role of community-driven global umbrella organisations such as OSGeo, as well as the standardization of innovative services. The main driver is the acknowledgement of a meritocratic attitude. These patterns follow evolutionary processes of establishing and maintaining a web-based democratic culture spawning new kinds of communication and projects. This culture transcends the established compartmentation and stratification of science by creating mutual benefits for the participants, irrespective of their respective research interest and standing. Abstract: Information retrieval is the major task in present scenario as quantum of data is increasing with a tremendous speed. So, to manage & mine knowledge for different users as per their interest, is the goal of every organization whether it is related to grid computing, business intelligence, distributed databases or any other. To achieve this goal of extracting quality information from large databases, software agents have proved to be a strong pillar. Over the decades, researchers have implemented the concept of multi agents to get the process of data mining done by focusing on its various steps. Among which data pre-processing is found to be the most sensitive and crucial step as the quality of knowledge to be retrieved is totally dependent on the quality of raw data. Many methods or tools are available to pre-process the data in an automated fashion using intelligent (self learning) mobile agents effectively in distributed as well as centralized databases but various quality factors are still to get attention to improve the retrieved knowledge quality. This article will provide a review of the integration of these two emerging fields of software agents and knowledge retrieval process with the focus on data pre-processing step. There has been lot of research in recent years for efficient web searching. Several papers have proposed algorithm for user feedback sessions, to evaluate the performance of inferring user search goals. When the information is retrieved, user clicks on a particular URL. Based on the click rate, ranking will be done automatically, clustering the feedback sessions. Web search engines have made enormous contributions to the web and society. They make finding information on the web quick and easy. However, they are far from optimal. A major deficiency of generic search engines is that they follow the ‘‘one size fits all’’ model and are not adaptable to individual users.

The Internet is the largest source of information created by humanity. It contains a variety of materials available in various formats, such as text, audio, video, and much more. In all, web scraping is one way. There is a set of strategies here in which we get information from the website instead of copying the data manually. Many webbased data extraction methods are designed to solve specific problems and work on ad hoc domains. Various tools and technologies have been developed to facilitate web scraping. Unfortunately, the appropriateness and ethics of using these web scraping tools are often overlooked. There are hundreds of web scraping software available today, most of them designed for Java, Python, and Ruby. There is also open-source software and commercial software. Web-based software such as YahooPipes, Google Web Scrapers, and Firefox extensions for Outwit are the best tools for beginners in web cutting. Web extraction is basically used to cut this manual extraction and editing process and provide an easy and better way to collect data from a web page and convert it into the desired format and save it to a local or archive directory. In this study, among other kinds of scrub, we focus on those techniques that extract the content of a web page. In particular, we use scrubbing techniques for a variety of diseases with their own symptoms and precautions.
