Four Steps To Increase Blog Traffic!

Increase Blog Traffic: Expand Your Blog’s Reach In Four Steps!
In this day and age, many of us like to blog. It’s a
fun way to share your views and experiences with
the world. It’s also an effective and free (or at least
very cheap) way to drive traffic to your website,
which is very important if you’re trying to build or
expand your following, or drive people to products
and offers.
What most people do wrong: The most common
mistake that people make when blogging is to
limit themselves to creating and publishing the
content. While writing the article is obviously a
fundamental part of the process, there is so much
more you can do to make sure that what you write gets read by as many people as possible!
4 steps to successful blogging:
In this article I will share with you the four steps I personally follow to increase the traffic to my
blog every time I publish an article. While they can be applied to both written blogs or video blogs, they are
more specific to articles.
FREE GIFT: Download the Checklist I Use To Make Sure I Follow This 4 Crucial Steps!
(PDF)
Step 1) Once you’ve chosen a subject, do somekeyword research.
Keywords are words or phrases that people type into search engines like Google or Bing when searching
for a something on the web. We all do it on a daily basis, right?
What you may not be aware of, is that search engines store data about every search and then offer
advertisers the possibility to “bid” for a particular keyword, so that their ad will show when someone is
looking for something they are advertising.
As a blogger you don’t need to be too concerned with how advertising works on Google or Bing, but you
may want to learn how to use their keyword planner tools to help your articles will “rank higher” on their
result pages.
I like to use Google’s Keyword Planner, it’s very simple to use and it’s free. The idea is to search for
keywords that have between 10 and 2,000 “Average Monthly Searches” and between 1,000 and 20,000
“Results”.
I put together a short video to explain you how this process works, hopefully you will see how simple and
effective it can be!

Step 2) Create content
This step is key obviously, as a blog without content is really like a sky without stars! Who would want to
look at it?
Here you get to unleash your inner Joyce and let the virtual “pen” flow! Remember that no one wants to
read something that seems written by a robot. Put your personality into it and don’t forget to spellcheck
before publishing!
Structure and Layout tips:
Following this basic layout will help you to increase your blog’s traffic:
Title: Make it coherent with the content and include your main keyword.
Introduction: Explain in a few sentences what you will be covering in the article. This is where you
have the chance to grab the reader’s attention, make it clear and to-the-point.
Body: This is the main section of your article, separate the paragraphs and add pictures and videos
to keep the reader engaged!
Summary with optional Call to Action: Recap what you’ve talked about in the article and if you
want, ask the reader to “take action”. It could be as simple as asking them to take a survey,
download a free pdf, or subscribe to your newsletter.
Signature: A signature is a nice final touch. You can include links to your social media accounts, a
picture, or links to other sites you own (Scroll down to the bottom of the article to check out mine).

Step 3) Optimise
Optimising your article is important as it will help it rank higher on search engines. I could go as far as
saying that without optimisation it may not even appear on the bigger search engines , and you don’t
want your patiently crafted piece of content to become a virtual floating dust bunny, right?
A few tips to make your article search engines-friendly:
Include your main keyword in the title and throughout the article in Bold, Italics, and Underlined.
Also format your main keyword as Header 1, 2 and 3 within the article.
Include secondary keywords (keywords that are related to the main one but didn’t give you good
results in the Keyword planner).
For Example:
If your main keyword is “best sports cars in the world” your title may simply be: “best sports
cars in the world” and your first paragraph could look something like:
“In this article I will talk about the best sports cars in the world. I always wanted to write
an article about the best sports cars in the world as I’ve been obsessed with cars since I
was a kid. Please leave a comment to let me know what you think the best sports cars in
the world are!”
Include the main keyword in the “title” and “alternative description” of every image you include in the
article.
Include the main and secondary keywords in the “tags”.
Categorise your article.
Step 4) Publish, Promote and Syndicate!
There’s a lot more you can do to increase traffic to your blog than just click “Publish” and share your article
on social networks (which is something you definitely want to do).
Share your new article with your mailing list. Send everyone an email inviting them to read your
new post.
“Ping it” around the net with Pingomatic.com
Turn your article into a PDF at printfriendly.com and then upload it at issuu.com
Every week, or month, select your favourite blog post, turn it into a video and send it around video
syndication websites.
Use Imautomator.com and Onlywire.com for social bookmarking and submitting your site to online
directories.
Create a slide of your article and share it at slideshare.com
If you’re targeting small businesses, share it on Bizsugar.com and Elance.com
Promote your article on social media. I don’t want to go too much in detail with this as it would
make for an entirely new article. Be aware that every major social network (Facebook, Twitter,
Google+) gives you the chance to “boost” your post by paying a small fee. I personally only do it on
Facebook as due to their new policies, if you share content on a page you manage, it won’t be seen
by all of your followers unless you “boost” your post.
Summary
To recap, once you’ve chosen the subject of your post you want to:
Step 1) Research Keywords using Google Keyword Planner, or other tools if you’re already
familiar with similar ones.
Step 2) Create the content making sure you put your personality into it. give your article a clear
structure and feel free to add images, and videos, but avoid adding too many of them!
Step 3) Optimise it. Make sure that the keywords are in different formats, headings and that they

are are also included in the title and alternative description of the images. Include your keywords in
the “tags” and assign your article to a category on your site.
Step 4) Publish, Promote, Syndicate. Share your article on social media, turn it into a pdf or a
video, use syndication websites to reach more sites (and people!). Share it with your mailing list.
