This document discusses supply chain resilience and how new technologies could improve resilience. Supply chain resilience refers to a supply chain's ability to return to normal operations after a disruption. Blockchain, industrial internet of things (IIoT), and radio frequency identification (RFID) provide information that can support supply chains. The assignment is to analyze how these technologies could improve supply chain resilience in areas impacted by events like hurricanes, tsunamis, or pandemics. The paper will follow an engineering format and evaluate how blockchain, IIoT, and RFID could enhance the planning, sourcing, production, delivery, return, and enablement processes in the Supply Chain Operations Reference model.

 Supply Chain Resilience is the ability for a supply chain to return to normal operations after a disruptive event.
Examples are the times immediately after a natural disaster or a force majeure, such as war, riot, or epidemic. Supply
routes are expected to be adversely affected during these times but the resiliency of the supply chain can help dictate
how long until supply levels return to a pre-event level.
 The world continues to see advances in technology and in the methodologies employed across various industries. Three
such advances include blockchain, Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), and Radio Frequency Identification (RFID). These
technologies help support supply chains by providing information on location, condition, and validation of materials and
items within a supply chain.
 In this project, the assignment is to determine how technologies, such as those listed, would improve supply chain
resilience within an adversely impacted area. Recent historical situations that would have benefitted from a resilient
supply chain include:
 − any recent hurricane, though Hurricane Maria in 2017 has some studies.
 − the Fukushima Tsunami in Japan in 2011
 − COVID-19

3. SUPPLY CHAIN RESILIENCE
 Hypothesis:
 H0: The use of technologies such as blockchain, IIoT, and RFID will improve supply chain resiliency.
 Deliverables:
 Written paper that follows the five-part engineering format. Approximately 9 pages long. References and
citations should be formatted per IEEE. You can find a guide at:

 1st deliverable will include the introduction, the background, and a proposed methodology.
 2nd deliverable will include any corrections to the 1st deliverable, a finalized methodology, the results, and the
conclusion.

4. SUPPLY CHAIN RESILIENCE
 Proposed Model:
 Many supply chain management systems are based off of the Supply Chain Operations Reference (SCOR) model.
The 12th version of SCOR has six main management processes: Plan, Source, Make, Deliver, Return, and Enable.
These processes are broken up into sub content areas that help define the processes better and are more
manageable.
 In this paper, use these sub content areas to show how blockchain, IIoT, and RFID would improve supply chain
resilience. Not every sub content area will be used and not all are relevant for each technology.
 APICS has a pretty good breakdown of the SCOR model.
