Effective Listening and Note Taking Strategies
1. Vanessa Madriz
For me in my situation I really found this power point in chapter 6 extremely
helpful. The reason why I believe that is simply because it helps you to understand how
to
be a better listener and it gives you different methods to try. For example, it tells you how
to prepare you self by getting involved and making eye contact. Plus speaking up and
staying active in a discussion can help the mind. Also you should always be prepared by
bringing supplies and finding a method that fits you and your teacher teaching skill,
rather
its Cornell notes, or diagrams. In addition to all that when you have little to no interest in
you material, or at least for me, it sets me back major. The reason why is because it
effects
everything my grades, connection with others, and my commitment because im not
really into what is being given to my brain that is why I found chapter six helpful. The
way I can learn how to avoid not being interested in my material because I don’t want to
fail a class or loose my connection with others all because in no longer interested. I have
to stay focus and maintain that focus because it is very important for my future.
As for Maya, If she continues to stay focus and follow chapter 6 guide lines I
know she will be extremely successful in everything she puts her mind to. The reason I
say
that is because all Maya needs is a little focus in her schooling and she need a better
method on how to take notes. Its not like she isn’t attending class she just has poor note
taking skills she should also try recording her teacher and drawing diagrams and possibly
joining a study group till she learns how to pick up better note taking methods.
