Internet usage is widespread in the 21st century. It is now
considered as one of the basic necessity of human life and everybody
wants good connectivity, but without any restrictions and at ease.
But more ease means easier attack. Cyber attack is real and very
serious problem, facing by today's world. More and more people are
being attacked and affected by it. It can cause serious damage like,
occuring huge financial losses in terms of billions of dollars, software
piracy and virus attacks. It can cause more damage in several critical
fields like battlefield management systems.
Other type of security attacks are intellectual property theft,
virus/worms, trojans or denial of service.
There are various kind of hardware security attacks like, trace
system from system/peripheral bus, build fake devices, modify RAM,
replay bus signals, trigger fake interrupts etc.
Side Channel Attack (SCA) is non-invasive, passive and can be
combined with other active methods, which control the normal
operation via rare input and force abnormal operation.
Methods of hardware security are SPA & DPA.
Simple Power Analysis (SPA), which gets information about
data/operation based on the current used by a device overtime.
Differential Power Analysis (DPA), is advanced form of protection &
better than SPA, which gets data based on power difference
overtime between two traces.
