10. “Open Access literature is digital, online, free of charge, and free of
most copyright and licensing restrictions” (Suber, 2004)
OA removes price barriers (subscriptions, licensing fees) and
permission barriers (copyright, licenses) for maximizing access to the
journal articles.
It shows the results of public research but it also contribute to the
visibility of research centers and researchers.
It allows that researchers can maintain their author 'rights and can
establish their conditions of use.
European Commission has been backing up several initiatives for the
use of OA at international and national levels.

16. “Open Science is the idea that scientific knowledge of all kinds should
be openly shared as early as is practical in the discovery process”
(Nielsen, 2011)
“Open Science is transparent and accessible knowledge that is
shared and developed through collaborative networks” (Vicente-Saez;
Martinez-Fuentes, 2018).
It aims to make scientific research, data and dissemination accessible
to all levels of society for maximizing its impact and benefits.
It usually comprises open data, open source software, open
methodologies, open access, open peer reviews and open educational
resources.
Open Science has been designated by the EC as one of the three
pillars of the next European Research Framework Program called
“Horizon Europe”.

24. There is no Research 2.0 as such but a kind of practices that are
influenced by Open Access, Open Science, Creative Commons
licenses, Web 2.0 ethos and the dissemination of knowledge thanks to
the new digital platforms.
The goal of these practices is to contribute to the public diffusion of
knowledge generated by research and the strengthening of scientific
culture of citizens.
It implies a new attitude in scientists attitudes and to abandon “The
Ivory Tower” to meet citizens in other kind of formats and platforms
where the public is.
New digital resources such as Social Media, Blogs, MOOC´s, e-Books,
open databases, can help to achieve visibility to researcher´activities.
