4. What is SharePoint?
SharePoint Online is a collaboration tool developed
by Microsoft. It allows schools to:
- share information anywhere there is Web access
- set up websites (called Learning Spaces) to share
documents, manage projects and publish
information
- Embed social media (ie Twitter, Yammer)

5. What does it cost for schools?
Nothing, it is essentially free.
It is part of Office 365 which is a subscription based
e-mail service and application service hosted in the
Cloud.

- Online versions of Office including Word, Excel and
PowerPoint

- Unlimited online meetings, IM, and audio, HD video, and
web conferencing
- Corporate video portal
- Work management tools
- Online collaboration (Yammer)
- Intranet site for your team (SharePoint)

8. How did we achieve this?

Initially admin down approach (CEO, wouldn’t change
again)
Initially a SharePoint group was established, one PD then
nothing

Restrictions/access was set by admin

13. My strategic plan:
1. Become an expert in SharePoint
2. Major problem I encountered (restrictions)
3. Set up a Year 5 Learning Space for my year level team
(incorporated other team members tools -Notebook)
4. Approached a Reception teacher (Weebly)
5. Created learning space for Reception and transferred all data
across
6. Taught Reception teacher how to edit her own pages (similar
to word, easy) GIVE QUICK DEMONSTRATION

14. My strategic plan:
Showed Reception Learning Space at Primary staff meeting
Year 1 were the next to take on a SharePoint learning space
using same format but this time year 1 teacher transferred data
across, edited etc.
Secondary EAL teacher (general conversation in staff room,
created learning space for her)
Set up learning spaces for primary teachers similar to mine
Created 2 minute video tutorials
Secondary EAL teacher became very proficient, gave admin
rights, shared with her faculty, grew into Secondary school

15. After one year?
All Primary classes (except Y7) using SharePoint to various
degrees.
Secondary EAL, Humanities (several year levels) some of
the Science year levels.

16. Start of this year: More user friendly
A student page to cater for BOTH primary and secondary
Quick links at the top of the page
Images and page links for Primary teachers
Secondary teachers, began to sort under faculties (SHOW
THE STUDENT LEARNING PAGE AGAIN)
Secondary teachers came up with their preferred
consistent lay out (I set up, issue had with this)

17. Announced week 8 last term, moving over to Microsoft
Live tiles
