This is a presentation I did to introduce ArtList (www.artlist.co) in June 2015 at 4 different venues: ICP (International Center of Photography) in NYC, Groupe Richemont headquarters in Geneva, Sotheby's Institute and the French Touch Conference (http://lafrenchtouchconference.net/) in NYC.
Basically, this is what I said
- the art market is undergoing a revolution: people now buy fine art ($1k-$1m) online, mostly by email and sight unseen
- yet, it's incredibly hard to sell a painting you own. Christie's and Sotheby's dominate the market, and are slow, expensive and tough to deal with.
- ArtList is a peer to peer marketplace for fine art. We have hundreds of artworks by some of the most sought after artists today ($1k-$1m) sold by collectors from across the world.
We are direct to owner, and charge just a flat 10% commission.
- 5 months post launch we have $30m worth of inventory and collectors from every continent
