• Drama Films are serious presentations or stories with
settings or life situations that portray realistic characters
in conflict with either themselves, others, or forces of
nature.
• Marlow’s theory of hierarchy of needs can portray in
drama films because a lot of people will watch drama
films to be in the film of another world or another persons
life.
3. CLIQUES
• Cliques are a sample to any stereotypical teen drama. A
prime example is MEAN GIRLS. Having cliques can
signify to the audience the genre of the film at the very
beginning of the film or even the trailer.

• -geeks/nerds
• -emos/Goths
• -Popular for being popular
4. VIEDO CLIP
• Video clip from the breakfast club to show the different
characters representative in the film.

5. SETTINGS
• Quite a few teen drama will be set in a high school, For
example
• 10 things I hate about you
• The breakfast club
• Mean girls
• High school musical
• Greece
Majority set in locker rooms ,dining rooms ,hall, field. All
these places will have significant to the film.
• Locker room- jocks, cheerleaders
• Field/gym- where the ‘big games’ happens
6. BINARY OPPOSITES IN TEEN DRAMA
• A binary opposition (also binary system) is a pair of
related terms or concepts that are opposite in meaning.
Here are examples in teen dramas;
• Anti –social vs. social
• -big city vs. small town
• Strong man/boy vs. innocent girl
• Bad vs. good
• Loud vs. quiet
• Vulnerable vs. confident
8. MISE EN SCENE
• Typical costume within teen drama is often fairly simple and not too
extravagant. However costume is used to present the different types
of character.
For example a typical ‘up to no good’ character may wear trainers and
a hoody. Or the typical popular girl may be seen to be carrying a
designer handbag and posh clothes to signify her wealth to others.
Typical props of this sub-genre is mobile phones ,drugs ,alcohol and
knives.
The mood and atmosphere of this genre is a mixture between happy
but also dark. The controversial issues tackled in Teen Drama can
often make the atmosphere feel a little bit depressive when character
deal with certain issues.
