On October 31st, we
celebrate halloween,
thought to be the one
night of the year
when ghosts,
witches, and fairies
are especially active.
So what do people do
on halloween day in
England ?

fantasmas, brujas,
hadas son

3. Jack-o-lanterns
Are hollowed out pumpkins
with a face cut in one side
and a candle put inside. In
the old days people lit fires
to scare away bad spirits.
They believed light had
power over darkness. Today
jack-o-lanterns are
supposed to frighten away
ghosts and witches
Son calabazas ahuecadas con
una cara cortada en un
lado, y se coloca una vela en
su interior. En los viejos
tiempos la gente las prendía
fuego para asustar a los
espíritus malos. Creían que
la luz tenia poder sobre la
oscuridad. Hoy jack-o-
lanterns se supone que
asustan a los fantasmas y
brujas

One halloween party
game in called “bobbing
for apples”. Apples are
put in a bug bowl fullof
water. The players,
sometimes blindfolded
must take an apple out
of the water without
using their hands .

llamada “manzanas

manzanas eran puestas
en un bowl grande lleno
de agua. Los jugadores

5. Dressing up
On halloween, when it was it
was believed that bad
spirits came back to the
earthly world, people
thought they would meet
ghosts if they left homes
after dark so that the ghosts
would mistake them for
fellow spirts. That´s why
halloween costumes are
traditionally monsters such
as vampires, ghosts, witches
and ldevils
En Halloween, cuando la gente
creia que los espiritus malos
regresaban a la tierra,
pensaban que se
encontrarian con los
fantasmas si ellos salian de
sus casas. Para evitar ser
reconocidos, usaban
mascaras cuando salian de
las casas en la oscuridad.
Estas son costumbres
tradicionales de Halloween,
monstruos como vampiros,
fantasmas, brujas y diablos.
6. TRICK OR TREAT
Children in costumes go from
house to house in their
neighbourhood, often in
small groups, in orden tos
ask for treast such as
sweets, lollipops, chocolates
or money. When someone
answer the door, the
children say: trick or treat ?
The ´trick´ is a threat to
perform mischief on the
homeowners or their
property if no treat is given
Los niños como de costumbre,
van de casa en casa a sus
vecinos. A veces en
pequeños grupos, en orden,
pregutando por caramelos,
chupetines, chocolates o
dinero. Cuando alguien abre
la puerta, los niños dicen:
“truco o trato?” El truco es
una amenaza para realizar
travesuras a los propitarios
si no hay trato.
