Pablo Picasso was a famous Spanish painter born in 1881 in Málaga, Spain. He showed an early interest and talent for art, beginning lessons from his art teacher father at age 7. At age 16, he studied at the prestigious Royal Academy of San Fernando in Madrid. In 1900, Picasso moved to Paris where he befriended poets and other artists. He is renowned for co-inventing Cubism, a revolutionary style using geometric shapes, and for prolific output across multiple mediums including paintings, sculptures, and drawings. Some of Picasso's most iconic works include Les Demoiselles d'Avignon and Guernica. He continued working until his death in 1973 in France.
