2. Synopsis
This presentation by four Madrid Players: James Duggan, Richard
Carlow, Susannah Jones and Lois Humphrey, in collaboration with
Teatro Tespis Producciones showcases 5 of the original tales adap-
ted by Neil Simon from stories by Anton Chekhov: The Sneeze, The
Governess, The Drowned Man, The Audition and The Defenceless
Creature. Set in 19th century Russia - the tales are connected by the
image of Chekov himself in the character of the Writer, as presentor
and narrator. The stories are at once deeply human and poignant,
yet each ending up in a classic twist of black Chevokian humour, all
delivered via the delectable, biting wit of New Yorker Neil Simon’s
slick dialogue. An evening of gems.
Sinopsis
Esta presentación por cuatro miembros del los Madrid Players: Ja-
mes Duggan, Richard Carlow, Susannah Jones y Lois Humphrey, en
colaboración con Teatro Tespis Producciones nos entrega 5 de los
cuentos originales de El Buen Doctor, una adaptación de Neil Simon
basados en cuentos originales de Anton Chekhov: El estornudador,
La governanta, El hombre ahogado, La audición y La criatura inde-
fensa. Las historias tienen lugar en la Rusia del siglo 19. Los relatos
son presentados por Chekhov en la forma del personaje, el escrito,
Cada uno nos muestra la fragilidad de la vida humana, con toda su
ternura y dureza, pero siempre terminando con el toque particular
de humor negro típico del autor ruso. El autor neoyorquino, Neil Si-
mon, nos los presenta de una forma magistral con diálogos frescos y
de una comicidad desbordante. Una noche llena de joyas.
