Nanocomposite of copper sulfide (CuS /PVA) have been synthesized according to chemical
precipitation method at temperature 65ºC by simple reaction between copper acetate (Cu (ac)) and thiourea
(H2NCSNH2) at pH=9. Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA), used as capping agent, was found to play a key role in the
confinement process.
The characterization of the product was done by UV-VIS spectroscopy, atomic force microscopy
(AFM) and x-ray diffraction (XRD). The X-ray diffraction showed the covellite phase of copper sulphides with
hexagonal crystal structure. The sizes of the sample as prepared were calculated by Debye-Scherrer formula
according to XRD spectra. A UV-VIS optical spectroscopy study was carried out to determine the band gap of
the nanocomposite CuS to be about 3.3 eV

educational research. Using the Johanna Briggs methods, the authors conducted a systematic critical appraisal
of the 45 quantitative emancipatory research articles published between 2000 and 2011 and provide a synthesis
of findings. Type of studies, participants, and outcomes measure served as criteria for considering studies. As
the results shown, 125 key findings were assigned into 26 groups, 12 thematic categories, five overarching
descriptions: agency in community health; instruction practice and student engagement; learning experience
impacts student performance; participation, student characteristic and programmatic opportunity; and
university support, international education, evaluation, and professor specialization. The findings suggested
that: systematic appraisal practice could be used for other syntheses; teaching emancipatory research methods
in graduate school is important; course design, teacher program preparation, and teaching activities should
closely represent societal needs, social culture, and demonstrate an awareness of students’ voice and cultural
backgrounds.

Parental Support, Self-Esteem and Emotional Intelligence as Predictors of Soc...iosrjce
The Nigerian contemporary African society often sees mentally challenged children as being
bewitched, possessed, or spiritually inflicted and fails to see their situation from the biological, physiological or
accidental perspective of nature. This ill conceive feelings make members of the society and even immediate
family members behave in an unaccommodating manner to mentally challenged children at home or school.
This has negative implication on their well-being. In view of this context, this study investigated parental
support, self-esteem, and emotional intelligence as predictors of social anxiety among mentally challenged
children in Ibadan, Nigeria. Using the descriptive survey research design of ex-post factor, three research
questions were answered and data were collected using four validated instruments, from seventy (70) socially
anxious mentally challenged pupils selected through multi-stage sampling technique. Data was analysed using
the Multiple Regression Analysis at 0.05 level of significance. The study revealed that the independent variables
(parental support, self-esteem and emotional intelligence) made joint contribution of 58.5% variance on the
dependent variable (social anxiety). Also, the independent variables significantly predicted the dependent
variable. Thus, it was recommended that the family, school, teachers and society should support the
developmental needs of mentally challenged pupils in school and at home instead of treating them with disdain.

and challenges facing counsellors with respect to their religion and spirituality and that of clients’, a proactive
approach is what is needed at this time. Therefore, religiotherapy stands out to bridge the gap that has overtime
created a lot of incredible heartache to all concerned in the counselling profession. Religiotherapy integrates
client’s faith and psychology to assist the genuinely motivated client(s) willing and ready to resolve their
worries. The skills and conditions for the practice of religiotherapy were examined in this article. The article
also demonstrates how researches and intervention programmes that incorporates religious resources and
psychological techniques in therapy to assist individual(s) serves as theoretical and empirical evidence on the
effectiveness of religiotherapy. Religiotherapy make the counselling process meaningful, flexible and respectful
of diverse spiritual cum religious backgrounds of clients.
