This document discusses providing in-office support experiences for off-campus students through virtual technologies. It notes that 75% of college students commute and juggle other responsibilities while 47% dropout. A new virtual platform called Cranium Cafe aims to replicate on-campus meetings for off-campus students by allowing them to directly access advisors and tutors without downloads or special logins. This could help reduce dropout rates by increasing face-to-face support for students who cannot physically visit campus offices.

This document discusses including green information systems (IS) content in teaching IS and computer science curricula. It argues for including environmental awareness as part of all IS/IT project assessments, similar to how market research and costing are included. There are opportunities to include green IS throughout curricula, such as through introductory examples, specialist modules, or integrating examples into other courses. While all students should have basic awareness, some may specialize. Assessment can ensure learning outcomes are achieved and topics are understood, though it may not convince skeptical students of sustainability's importance. A grading system could help categorize green IS teaching materials by level, type, location in curriculum, and motivating factors.

This document discusses the future of collaborative collection development in libraries. It notes that libraries now face challenges like ubiquitous information, user disintermediation, declining use of physical collections, and the rise of digital technologies. It explores collaborative approaches taken by projects like WEST for journal storage and HathiTrust for digital books. While collaborative print book collection will be more difficult than journals, there are still opportunities for initiatives like shared e-book licensing, approval plans, storage facilities, and bibliographers. The future of collection may involve newer areas like web archiving, data publication, and earlier engagement in the research lifecycle.

This document discusses the key elements of urban design, including signage, lighting, parking, landscaping, service areas, fencing, building materials, building articulation, and transportation. It provides details on each element, with a focus on how they should be considered and integrated into urban planning and development projects. Signage, lighting, landscaping, and building materials/articulation are some of the elements that contribute to the aesthetic character and visual experience of the urban environment. Other functional elements like parking, service areas, and transportation infrastructure need to be designed carefully with considerations for accessibility, traffic flow, and minimizing visual impacts.

This document discusses the need for climate responsive design in buildings. It defines climate responsive design as designing buildings to harmonize with the local climate and site conditions to reduce ecological impacts and increase energy efficiency. It discusses how vernacular designs evolved to be climate sensitive and provides examples of climate responsive design features like sun shading, natural ventilation. The document emphasizes that climate responsive design benefits both the environment and occupants by increasing comfort while reducing energy costs and emissions. Louis Kahn was an influential 20th century architect known for his monumental and monolithic style. Some of his most notable works include the Yale Art Gallery featuring elegant concrete and texture juxtapositions, the Salk Institute composed of three clustered programs around courtyards, and the National Assembly Building in Bangladesh which combined modern architecture with Bengali vernacular. Kahn's works were inspired by ancient ruins and aimed to uncover archetypal social patterns through primary geometric forms and central meaningful spaces.
Aluminum composite panels (ACP) consist of two thin aluminum sheets bonded to a non-aluminum core. They provide excellent mechanical performance at minimal weight due to a sandwich structure with the core taking shear loads and the skins taking in-plane stresses. ACP offers properties like light weight, insulation, heat resistance, and durability. It is commonly used for architectural cladding, partitions, ceilings, and more. Examples of buildings that use ACP include Spaceship Earth and the Guggenheim Museum due to its design flexibility, rigidity, and efficiency.

1.- selecciona el texto o posiciona el cursor en el texto que deseas bordear.
2.- por medio del menú formato activa el cuadro de dialogo bordes y sombreado.
