Este documento presenta un resumen de las canciones incluidas en un "cancionero" compilado por Ulises Troyo. El prólogo explica cómo Troyo se inició en la música de niño cantando canciones de The Beatles aunque no entendía bien el inglés. Ahora como adulto canta versiones de grandes éxitos musicales en inglés y ha compilado este cancionero con las letras de las canciones para que otros puedan cantar. PROLOGO
uando mi interés en la música que tocaban en el radio rebasó
el límite de “escucharla” para decidir “cantarla”, contaba
con muy pocos elementos prácticos para hacerlo. El
tocadiscos monoaural de la sala de mi casa, unos cuantos
discos de 45, un block de doble raya y eso sí, varios lápices
con goma. Mi conocimiento del idioma Inglés por otro lado, era muy
incipiente, lo que me dificultaba un poco más la tarea. Sin embargo, a los
siete años uno nunca encuentra obstáculos en su camino, así que empecé
a cantar algunas canciones de mis héroes, Los Beatles, aunque tuviera que
inventar gran parte de las letras. Hoy, más de cuarenta años después, sigo
cantando, mis héroes ahora son muchos artistas más, interpreto algunos
de sus grandes éxitos acompañado de un piano o una guitarra y he hecho
del idioma Inglés mi segunda lengua. Esta anécdota sobre cómo me inicié
en la música, ha inspirado la edición de este “cancionero”. Mucha gente
en mis presentaciones me ha pedido las letras de algunas de las canciones
que interpreto. Esta es mi manera de cumplir con todos ellos y de ofrecer
a quienes gustan de esta música, un recurso para animarlos a cantarlas.
