El documento describe la tecnología de comunicaciones por línea eléctrica (PLC), la cual permite transmitir señales de voz, datos y video a través de la red eléctrica existente. El PLC ofrece una alternativa de bajo costo a otras soluciones de telecomunicaciones, ya que no requiere instalaciones especiales y aprovecha la infraestructura eléctrica. El PLC soporta anchos de banda de hasta 200 Mbps y permite conectar dispositivos a cualquier toma de corriente de una vivienda o edificio.
