Great Jobs For Teens
Retail Sales:Inventory, stocking shelves, product demonstrations, handing out samples in grocery stores,
customer service or operating a cash register are all options when it comes to retail sales. This job can be
great for teens that are particularly sociable, as they’ll often have to interact with the public in addition to
working as a part of a team.
Babysitting:Teens who like kids could take on a job as a nanny or babysitter, a position that is in high
demand during the summer when working parents need to secure childcare for their children. Babysitters
usually work Friday and Saturday evenings, leaving the week open.Theymust be highly responsible,
patient and able to resolve conflicts.Managing small children can be a challenge, but babysitters make
their own hours and set their own pay.
Food Service:A job in the food service industry is a natural fit for that enjoy interacting with the public.
The work may not be fun or glamorous at times, but being a member of a wait staff teaches patience,
customer service, money management, conflict resolution, food handling, food preparation, and multi -
tasking skills that can pay off after high school.
Tutoring:Teens that are particularly bookish or talented in certain subject areas might enjoy tutoring kids
that need the extra help. Tutors that are proficient with computers could also teach adults computer
skills.Private tutors can set their own schedule with their clients, which means tutoring is an ideal job for
a teen looking to work during the school year without having to give up too much free time.
Pet care:A teenager who is good with animals can spread the word to friends and neighbors that he or
she is available to watch their pets while the owners go on a vacation or weekend trip. If you can't
commit to lodging animals in your home, a dog walking, waste cleanup or pet grooming business are
other great alternatives.
