El objetivo de este trabajo es el cálculo manual de cargas de viento para análisis estructural en edificaciones, siguiendo la norma ASCE7-16 y con el apoyo de la herramienta MATLAB para su posterior implementación. El trabajo busca comparar los resultados obtenidos de forma manual con los que se obtienen mediante el cálculo de cargas de viento automático derivado del software ETABS, con el propósito de validar las herramientas utilizadas, enmarcándonos en entender y plasmar de manera más explícita el funcionamiento del proceso de cálculo. Además, este trabajo se muestra como una alternativa más flexible y transparente en el cálculo de la carga, la que puede ser aplicada pseudo-manualmente en herramientas comerciales como ETABS u otra. Se realizaron varios modelos de edificios con geometría variable, evidenciándose la variación que esto produce sobre factores como el coeficiente de ráfaga G, ya que depende de la rigidez de la estructura. El cálculo manual se hace asignando cargas puntuales para cada nivel de piso a través de la integración de presiones basado en una integración por trapecios, y se comprueba como ambos procedimientos arrojan resultados coherentes entre sí, manteniendo una diferencia relativamente pequeña y frecuentemente despreciable en las métricas (magnitudes) estructurales de interés.
