1. EDLD 5452 Instructional Leadership: The Technology Link Christi VanWassenhove Part I: Organizational Chart The Principal’s Role in Implementation of the Organizational Chart The principal is responsible for ensuring that the district vision is passed on to his or her campus and for ensuring that everyone on the campus understands and follows the organizational chart. The principal must oversee the roles of the Site-Based Decision Making Committee, all campus personnel, and sutdents to make sure technology is being used appropriately. They are also responsible for answering to and reporting back to the Area Superintendent as described in the chart. Because our vision is to prepare students for the 21st Century workforce, the principal must fund technology and provide appropriate professional development that will aide in achieving the district’s and the campus’ vision. Part II: Professional Development Planning Our campus improvement plan continues to make it a mission to improve the quality of technology and to increase the number of technological tools available to our teachers and students. Through the addition of Smart Boards, Elmos, digital cameras, In Focus projectors, educational software, Purple Cows, Laptops, etc., our students have had more access to technology, but there is still a long way to go. After conducting last week’s student interviews, the students’ desire for technology in the classroom became very clear. In order to properly meet the students’ needs, we are going to have to step up our plan by providing multiple opportunities for professional development. According to the Campus STaR Chart, we are in the developmental stage in Educator Preparation and Development; therefore, our professional development plan must not only be aimed at providing more professional development opportunities, but also at modeling the use of technology. Part III: Evaluation Planning for Action Plan The goal in creating the professional development evaluations is to answer the following questions: What are our staff’s technology needs? How well did we/are we addressing the staff’s technology needs? What can we do to improve our professional development sessions? In order to properly gauge the success of the sessions, we will need to develop a short range and long range evaluation plan. The short range will garner immediate feedback and will help us in planning future sessions. The long range plan will help to determine whether or not the information presented at the session is being integrated into the classroom. The long term evaluation entitled “Integrating Blogs” will be available on line and must be completed by the end of the 4th 6 Week period.
