1. Read aloud the following paragraph about Babe Ruth. Remember that all
the boldfaced words should be pronounced with the diphthong /ey/.
Babe Ruth
Babe Ruth was a famous baseball player. He was born in Baltimore and
raised there as an orphan. He first played for the Boston Red Sox but was
later traded to the New York Yankees. He hit 714 home runs and became a
baseball legend. He was named to the Baseball Hall of Fame. The last team
he played for was the Boston Braves. He died in 1948. Many say he was
the greatest player of his day.
