Thursday,4th August, wasSalahadin´slastdayat work.He was goingon holidayforthree weeks.

eleven,Salahadintidieduphispapersandlockedthe drawersof hisdesk.Thenhe stoodup and
wentoverto where Leilawassitting.He gave herthe keys.
Leila,like Salahadin, wasagraduate of Cairo University.TheyhadbothstudiedAncientHistory.
Leilawastwenty-seven, six yearsyoungerthatSalahadin.She hasjoined hisdepartmentfive years
ago and wasnow one of the youngestinspectorsinthe Egyptianpolice.

Departure Lounge.Soonhe wasin the plane andon hiswayto London.
In London,everythingwasverydifferent.Itwaswetand cold.Salahadinarrivedathishotel in
GowerStreetjustafterthree o´clockin the afternoon.Itwasa small hotel,butitwasjustround
the corner fromthe BritishMuseum.Salahadinwasgoinglidayworkingtospendpartof his
holidayworkinginthe Museumwithafriend,DrPeterEarl.The BritishMuseumhasone of the
largestcollectionsof Egyptianantiquitiesinthe world.

2. On Saturdayevening,itwasstill raininga little, butitwaswarmer.Salahadinwentfora walk
throughthe streetof Central London.He walkeddownTottenhamCourtRoadtoLeicesterSquare
and thenalongto Piccadilly. Whenhe wasin Piccadilly, he rememberedLeila´spostcard.
I´ll buyit nowwhile I remembered, thoughtSalahadin.He walkedintoatouristshopselling
postcardsand books.Salahadinwalkedpastthe bookshelvestofindapostcard.He foundone
whichwasa photographof “PiccadillybyNight”.He walkedbacktothe counter to pay forit. On
hisway back,he hada quicklookat the bookson the shelves.He noticedabookwhichinterested
him.The title of the bookwas The Mystery of QueenAxtarte andthe name of the authorwas Dr
JohnFarrow.
SalahadinknewthatQueenAxtarte wasaqueeninAncientEgypt.AndSalahadinhasreadmany
bookson AncientEgyptwrittenbyfamousarcheologist.Buthe hadneverheardof an archeologist
calledDr Farrow.
Salahadindecidedtobuythe bookandread itlater.He paidfor the postcardand the bookand
walkedoutintothe busystreetsof Piccadilly.Itwasnow rainingheavily.Salahadinwalked
towardsLeicsterSquare.He noticedthata new filmwasbeingshowninone of the cinemas.
Salahadindecidedthatwasthe bestwayto spenda weteveninginLondon.He hada meal ina
small restaurantandwentintothe cinema.
It was verylate Salahadingotbackto hishotel.He wentto betand soonfell asleep.The Mystery
of Queen Axtarte layonthe table beside hisbed.Itwasstill wrappedupinthe paperfromthe
bookshop.

El sábadopor la noche,todavíaestaballoviendounpoco,peroeramás cálido.Salahadinfue adar

y luegoa lolargo de Piccadilly.CuandoestabaenPiccadilly,recordópostal Leila's.
Voycomprar ahora, mientrasyorecordaba,pensé Salahadin.Entróenunatiendapara turistas
