Que esperan los estudiantes?
Here is just a sampling just a few of our clients that are embracing the imperative.
Think about office hours, an instructor needs the rich collaboration tools of a whiteboard and desktop sharing to illustrate and convey more complex concepts that go beyond voice, video and text. Many educational interactions require the formal virtual classroom where the instructor can record, control the chat, send students to breakout rooms, and other concepts necessary for a one to many interaction. The Final type of sessions are the largest and include an auditorium-style lectures, conferences, seminars and can be used for marketing and promotional purposes. Again, you’re not limited to any type of usage and are free to use the technology as it suits your needs.
So if we apply that lens here is what we might see, not a whole list but pretty representative of what students expect. Key here is these are needs not just expectations…. So how does this translate to student expectations, we see through trends and research that students need to be engaged and want to be and they naturally for the most part look to technology as one medium for engagement so what are some of the common things they want have access to via technology? This is just a small list and it could go on and on. Natural push and pull – students want it, institutions struggle with how to respond? There are significant ramifications: Educators need to adapt to the world that their students live in. Technology is inevitable, as educators we should not be scared of it, we should embrace it. By not teaching with technology and using the tools that our students do we are refusing our them the ability to be successful in the world that they live in. If you do not provide the flexibility and technology that they want/ need they will go else where to learn they the way that best fits their needs.
