CBM (COAL BED METHANE) GAS ASOCIADO A MANTOS DE CARBÓN Y SECUESTRO DE CO2 ENH...Julian De Bedout Ordoñez
Capillary pressure seminar final versionmpetroleum
The document discusses capillary pressure, which is caused by the interaction between two fluids based on their interfacial tension and the wettability of the surface they contact. In a reservoir, capillary pressure causes one fluid to be retained in small pore spaces against gravity due to interactions at the pore scale. Understanding capillary pressure is important for reservoir optimization because it influences multiphase fluid distributions and flow properties. Capillary pressure can be measured using various laboratory methods to better understand these relationships and reservoir conditions.
Migration from source to reservoir rocks is not fully understood. Hydrocarbons must replace water in reservoir pores during migration. Formation waters are usually ancient waters trapped during deposition. Salinity of formation waters generally increases with depth from 35,000 ppm to over 350,000 ppm. Primary migration out of low permeability source rocks is debated, with mechanisms including diffusion, microfractures, and oil-phase migration along organic-rich pathways.

This document outlines a simple seismic data processing workflow. It begins with acquiring field data and updating the geometry. Next steps include trace editing, amplitude recovery, and noise attenuation. Velocity analysis and normal moveout correction are then applied. Deconvolution and multiple attenuation are performed before migration. Post-migration involves stacking, filtering and amplitude scaling to produce the final processed seismic section. The goal of seismic processing is to produce high quality seismic data for geological interpretation and hydrocarbon exploration.
Integration of Seismic Inversion, Pore Pressure Prediction, and TOC Predictio...Andika Perbawa
Conventional natural gas is being exploited rapidly to achieve energy security and to satisfy the demand. However, due to the high demand for oil and gas it is becoming more difficult to find sufficient conventional reserves. To anticipate the predicted shortage of gas, we need to explore new, unconventional resources, such as shale gas. Shale gas is shale lithology that has high TOC, is brittle, and is located in the dry gas window zone. This study describes the early exploration of shale gas potential in one block in South Sumatra basin area.
In this study, the integration of geochemical data, rock physics and seismic inversion for characterizing and searching for shale gas potential will be described. The preliminary exploration stage of gas shale play covers sweet spot analysis using the Passey method to create a pseudo TOC in the target formation. Secondly, the overpressure area is mapped to avoid any potential pitfalls. Thirdly, seismic inversion is performed to map the distribution of shale based on the parameters Vp / Vs and map its TOC through conversion from Vp parameter.
As a result, log analysis shows one target zone of potential shale gas with TOC above 1% with a thickness of 100 feet. Integration of pore pressure data, shale distribution and TOC distribution of the target zone shows two potential areas in west, north-south trending, and in the east relatively of the well-X. Both locations can be recommended for the next pilot holes in order to acquire a complete set of new data and to be able to evaluate more intensively.
This document discusses survey design and procedures for electrical resistivity surveys. It describes three common modes: 1) Sounding mode, where electrode spacing is varied to map resistivity with depth at fixed locations. 2) Profiling mode, where electrode spacing is fixed and the array is moved laterally to map lateral resistivity variations. 3) Profiling-sounding mode, which combines aspects of profiling and sounding modes. Common electrode arrays like Wenner and Schlumberger are described for each mode. Sounding and profiling modes are suited for mapping vertical and horizontal resistivity contrasts respectively.
The document describes seismic interpretation workflows, including conventional and unconventional techniques. Conventional techniques involve horizon interpretations, fault picking, and tying seismic data to well logs to understand subsurface geology. Unconventional techniques analyze seismic attribute variations like amplitudes to identify hydrocarbon indicators. The workflow includes generating synthetics from well logs, interpreting horizons on seismic sections, identifying structures like faults and gas chimneys, and determining direct hydrocarbon indicators.
