Some say tradition began with the
Celts, who lived thousands of years ago in
what is now Ireland, the United Kingdom
and northern France.
The Celts celebrated their new year
on November 1st, which marked the end
of summer and the beginning of the dark,
cold winter. To help protect themselves
and their crops during the long winter,
the Celts staged a joyous harvest
celebration called Samhain which means
“summer’s end”.

orígenes. Lo que dice la mayoría de la
gente es que el foco original de Halloween
estaba más relacionado con las cosechas
que con el terror.
Algunos dicen que la
tradición empezó con los celtas, que
vivieron hace miles de años en
Irlanda, Reino Unido y el norte de
Francia. Los celtas celebraban el
año nuevo el 1 de Noviembre y
significaba el final del verano y
comienzo del frío. Para protegerse a sí
mismos y a sus cultivos durante el
largo invierno, los celtas
organizaban una festividad
llamada Samhain, final de verano.
