1. PROPÓSITO: La asignatura Inglés Instrumental de la Licenciatura en
Computación tiene como propósito proporcionar al alumno las herramientas
lingüísticas y estrategias de lectura necesarias para desarrollar la habilidad lectora
de textos escritos en inglés dentro del área de la computación.
OBJETIVOS DE APRENDIZAJE: Se espera que al término del curso, el
estudiante esté en capacidad de entender textos escritos en inglés vinculados con
temas en el área de computación. Tal comprensión se logrará mediante la
aplicación de destrezas de lectura y habilidades lingüísticas que permitan al
alumno reconocer patrones de discurso académico a nivel macro (el texto como un
todo) y al nivel micro (en párrafos y oraciones). Además, el alumno deberá adquirir
un vocabulario que incluya las llamadas palabras técnicas
OBJETIVO GENERAL: Presentar y practicar la lectura y comprensión de textos
académicos en el área de computación enfatizando tanto las estrategias
descendentes y ascendentes como medios para lograr dichos objetivos con el fin
de mejorar y profundizar la capacidad por parte del alumno de comprender textos
escritos en inglés.
OBJETIVOS ESPECÍFICOS:
Utilizar el diccionario como instrumento y recurso asistente en el proceso de la
comprensión lectora
Identificar el significado de palabras desconocidas en textos escritos en Inglés de
acuerdo a su análisis morfológico, combinación y al contexto donde se encuentran.
Establecer diferencias entre los tiempos verbales del inglés en base a sus
elementos constituyentes.
Leer rápidamente un texto del área para obtener una idea general del mismo
Organizar las ideas principales y específicas de un texto y utilizar la información
resultante para elaborar un resumen
Distinguir los elementos del discurso
Distinguir las formas del plural de los sustantivos en inglés
Utilizar correctamente los cuantificadores como elementos modificadores del
sustantivo
Utilizar los pronombres relativos como elementos de enlace para formar oraciones
complejas

2. PURPOSE: The subject English for Specific Purposes for Computing students at
Zulia University, Punto Fijo Branch, has the purpose of providing them with the
linguistic tools and reading strategies necessary to develop the reading ability of
texts written in English within the area of computing.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES: It is expected that at the end of the course, the
student will be able to understand texts written in English related to topics in the
computing area. Such comprehension will be achieved through the application of
reading skills and linguistic abilities that allow the student to recognize academic
discourse patterns at the macro level (the text as a whole) and at the micro level
(in paragraphs and sentences). In addition, the student must acquire a
vocabulary that includes the so-called technical words
