Es uno de los destinos de República Domini-
cana de mayor renombre a nivel internacio-
nal y uno de los polos turísticos más impor-
tante del país, debido a que posee grandes
atractivos turísticos, complejos hoteleros,
encantadoras playas con certificación Bande-
raAzul,reconocidos campos de golf,bosques
tropicales, gran herencia histórica y diversas
actividades culturales. La Romana cuenta con
un gran desarrollo y productividad debido a
que su economía descansa en dos sectores: el

Juan Pablo Duarte Park: located in the
heart of La Romana, it is named after one
of the forefathers of the Dominican Home-
It is one of the most renowned destinations
in the Dominican Republic and is one of the
most important tourist destinations in the
country, because it has great tourist attrac-
tions, hotels, charming beaches with Blue
Flag certification, well-known golf courses,
tropical forests, great historical heritage
and several cultural activities.
This tourist enclave has been greatly de-
veloped with high productivity because
its economy rests in two sectors: the Cen-
tral Romana sugar mill, where more than
20,000 people work and tourism.

bol Latino. Al norte del parque se encuentra la

El Obelisco: construido en la década de
los 50, esta obra posee llamativas imágenes
plasmadas con pinturas alegóricas a la iden-
tidad local y a las actividades turísticas de La
Romana.
Ubicación: entre Av. Libertad y la calle Dr.
Teófilo Hernández.
El Artístico: en esta herrería podrá ver como
a base de fuego y golpes los metales como el
hierro, bronce, acero inoxidable, aluminio y la
plata son fundidos al compás de una especie
de tambores combinados por los martillos de
los ayudantes que siguen las instrucciones
del artista y propietario José Ignacio Morales.
Al final de la jornada observará desde lámpa-
ras y portones, hasta esculturas y monumen-
tos metálicos gigantescos considerados como
verdaderas obras de artes. Las obras de este
famoso taller han sido galardonadas en gran-
des exposiciones a nivel mundial y grandes
cadenas hoteleras de México, Jamaica, Es-
paña y Estados Unidos exhiben sus trabajos.

Aldea Cultural Santa Rosa de Lima: esta
antigua cárcel fue convertida en una aldea
cultural, y hoy día sus instalaciones albergan
una escuela de Bella Artes y una tienda de
artesanías dominicanas, al igual que un lu-
gar para organizar conciertos y exhibiciones
de arte.

Estadio Francisco Micheli: el béisbol es el
deporte más popular en la República Domini-
cana; la temporada de juego se extiende des-
de octubre hasta el mes de enero, con juegos
que se desarrollan durante la semana y fines
de semana. Este estadio fue inaugurado en

drums combined by the hammers of help-
ers following the instructions of the artist
and owner José Ignacio Morales. At the

and gates, to sculptures and gigantic me-
tallic monuments considered as true works
of art. The works of this famous workshop
have been awarded in large exhibitions
worldwide and large hotel chains in Mex-

Santa Rosa de Lima Cultural Village:
this old jail was turned into a cultural vil-
lage, and today its facilities house a Bella
Artes school and a Dominican handicraft
shop, as well as a place to organize con-
certs and art exhibitions.

Francisco Micheli Stadium: Baseball is
the most popular sport in the Dominican
Republic; The season runs from October to
January, with games that take place during
the week and weekends. This stadium was
inaugurated in 1979, has a capacity for 10
thousand fans and is the home of the Toros

nos y de sus hoteles, encontrará diversas ac-

Parque Juan Pablo Duarte: localizado en
pleno corazón de La Romana, lleva el nombre
de unos de los padres de la Patria Dominica-

1979, tiene una capacidad para 10 mil faná-
ticos y es el hogar del equipo Toros del Este.
Experimentar la energía, la emoción y la pa-
sión en un juego de béisbol dominicano es
una experiencia única. Ubicación: Av. Padre
Abreu. Tel.: 809-556-6188.
Playa la Caleta: este hermoso litoral es la
única playa pública del pueblo. Es un lugar im-
presionante para experimentar la “esencia” de
la República Dominicana, comer un delicioso
pescado frito y disfrutar de una cerveza bien fría.
Ubicación: en la costa sur de La Romana.
Cueva de las Maravillas: un museo natural
de arte rupestre taíno precolombino que co-
necta directamente con el pasado más remo-
to de la Isla Española. Dentro de la cueva se
pueden apreciar alrededor de 500 grabados y
pinturas en las paredes en las que predomina
el color rojo y negro y que son atribuidas a los
taínos, antiguos habitantes de la isla, hasta la
llegada de los españoles. Las sedimentacio-
nes de calcio han dado lugar con el tiempo
también a formaciones de estalactitas y esta-
lagmitas que complementan el aspecto mara-
villoso atribuido a la cueva. El recorrido por la
gruta tiene una duración de unos 35 minutos
y se realiza con guías en grupos de 20 per-
sonas o menos. Existen diversas compañías
que ofrecen esta excursión en la zona, pero
si desea ir de manera independiente, solo
tiene que dirigirse al lugar, donde le asistirán
con la compra del boleto que tiene un costo
de RD$300 pesos para adultos y niños de 3
a 12 años entran gratis. Ubicación: carretera

Isla Catalina: este paraíso natural une la be-
lleza de su playa y su entorno, con hermosos
paisajes que son indescriptibles, es un exce-
lente lugar para realizar deportes acuáticos,
ya que posee zonas coralinas donde puede
conocer la belleza marina a través de la prác-
tica de snorkeling y buceo. La playa completa
es un espectáculo único revestido de corales
y fauna, un lugar que le apasionará y disfru-
tará de principio a fin. Este cayo dispone de
amplias facilidades para una estadía en con-
tacto con la naturaleza, como infraestructuras
para alimentación y servicio de baño, pero
no de alojamiento. Visitar la Isla Catalina es
una emocionante aventura y para ello debe
de contactar con los que venden la excursión.
Ubicación: cerca de La Romana, en el sureste
de República Dominicana.
Casa de Campo Resort y Villas: es el
complejo más lujoso, completo y exclusivo
de República Dominicana, dispone entre sus
atractivos de un resort, más de 2,000 villas
y apartamentos, tres prestigiosos campos de
golf que han sido reconocidos internacional-
mente, un anfiteatro, puerto deportivo, oferta
de polo, centro ecuestre, campo de tiro, una
hermosa playa privada, además de su encan-
tadora marina, un lugar excelente para ir de
compras, cenar y por supuesto, para salir en
bote. Su hermosa marina está inspirada por
las pintorescas aldeas que salpican la costa
mediterránea, con más de 20 tiendas, nume-
rosos restaurantes, bares y una animada vida

Altos de Chavón: es la recreación de una
aldea mediterránea del siglo XVI, famosa
por ser un punto cultural y casa de los ar-
tistas. Su museo contiene una colección de
más de 3,000 artefactos indígenas. Además
se encuentra la hermosa iglesia católica San
Etanislao y su nombre en honor a Juan Pablo
II. Esta ciudadela es una de las atracciones
turísticas más llamativas. Cuenta con varios

Cueva de las Maravillas Natural Park
(Cave of Wonders): a natural museum of
pre-Columbian Taíno rock art that connects
directly with the history of the Spanish Is-

500 engravings and paintings on the walls
in which the red and black color predomi-
nates and which are attributed to the Taínos,
former inhabitants of the island until the
arrival of the Spaniards. Calcium deposits
have also given rise to stalactite and stalag-
mite formations that complement the won-
derful aspect attributed to the cave. The tour
of the cave lasts about 35 minutes and is
done with guides in groups of 20 people or
less. There are several companies that offer
this tour in the area, but if you want to go

Rosa de Bayahibe: la Pereskya Quisqueyana,
también conocida como la Rosa de Bayahibe, es la

recen entre marzo y junio. Esta especie que está en

desde 1975 cubre 791.9km², de los cuales,
su principal masa territorial es una península
cubierta por bosques subtropicales húmedos y
secos. Aquí tendrá la oportunidad de observar
no sólo las brillantes y variadas tonalidades
del mar, sino un sistema de cavernas donde se
encuentran vestigios pictóricos de los taínos,
así como áreas de conservación e investigación
científica. Otra peculiar área es El Peñón, lugar
que cuenta con un criadero y refugio de abe-
jas e iguanas, una zona boscosa, un banco de
peces,anidamiento de tortugas verdes,carey y
lambí, además tiene como refugio amplias ex-
tensiones de manglares rojos y blancos, aquí

Santuario de Tortugas Mano Juan: la Isla
Saona es el área más importante de nidos de
tortugas marinas en toda la República Domini-
cana. Gracias a los esfuerzos de este espacio, la
población de tortugas del área ha crecido len-
tamente. Este lugar es dirigido por Negro, un
antiguo pescador quien antes cazaba tortugas,
y que ahora se dedica a salvarlas.A lo largo de la
temporada de anidación (marzo a noviembre),
Negro colecciona huevos de tortugas de playa
de todas partes de la isla y los mantiene a salvo.
Palmilla: es una playita o “piscina natural” ca-
racterizada por aguas cristalinas que llegan hasta
la cintura,aquí los turistas abandonan las embar-
caciones para disfrutar un fresco chapuzón. Este
maravilloso lugar está bordeado de cocotales,
rocas acantiladas y senderos ecológicos. Palmilla
es un lugar maravilloso para pasar el día con ami-
gos, unos tragos y una parrillada, pero también
es una parada obligada para las excursiones en
barco que van hacia o vienen de la Isla Saona.

Los inicios de San Rafael de Yuma se remontan
a principios del sigloXVI.Este pequeño pueblo
limita al norte con el municipio Salvaleón de
Higüey, al oeste con la provincia La Romana y
al sur con el Mar Caribe. Sus casitas de madera
pintadas en colores vibrantes y su emblemáti-
co parque, llaman a primera vista la atención
del visitante. En una planicie aledaña a tres
kilómetros y junto al Río Yuma, se encuentran
las ruinas de la Casa de Juan Ponce de León,
desde la cual este general español gobernó la
región Oriental.
Después de San Rafael de Yuma, aproxima-
damente a unos 10 minutos, se encuentra el
pequeño pueblo costero de Boca de Yuma con
una hermosa bahía donde el río Yuma desem-
boca en el Mar Caribe, lo que la convierte en
un lugar exclusivo y único en el mundo. Esta
ensenada es un lugar ideal para la pesca y ex-
cursiones en botes.
The origins of San Rafael de Yuma date to
the beginning of the XVI century. This small
town limits to the north with the Salvaleón
de Higüey municipality, to the west with La
Romana province and to the south with the
Caribbean Sea. Its wooden houses painted
in vibrant colors and its emblematic park, at-
tract the visitor’s attention at first glance. On
a plain bordering three kilometers and next
to the Yuma River, there are the ruins of the
House of Juan Ponce de León, from which
the Spanish ruled the Eastern region.
After San Rafael de Yuma, approximately 10
minutes away is the small coastal town of
Boca de Yuma with a beautiful bay where
the Yuma River empties into the Caribbean
Sea, which makes it an exclusive and unique
place in the world. This cove is an ideal place

Esta parte del país tiene riquezas naturales

diversas actividades como la pesca, excursio-
nes a diferentes puntos de la parte Este del
país, y sobre todo, si es amante de la fotogra-
fía le sorprenderá su diversidad de paisajes y
aves, el colorido de los botes de pesca o tam-
bién navegar a través del río Yuma en busca
de las cuevas donde, según la tradición, se re-
fugiaba el pirata Cofresí, prisionero y fusilado
en Puerto Rico el 29 de mayo de 1829.
Cueva Cofresí: lleva el nombre de un pira-
ta que de acuerdo con el folklore local uso la
gruta como base. Desde este lugar se realiza
un paseo en barco donde podrá ver iguanas
rinocerontes y aves, especialmente pelíca-
nos. El paseo dura aproximadamente 30 mi-
nutos e incluye una parada en Playa Blanca.
Ubicación: situada a unos 2 km por el río
Yuma y este recorrido solo es accesible me-
diante un viaje en barco.
Playa Blanca: mientras recorre el río Yuma
hacia la cueva Cofresí, puede parar en Pla-
ya Blanca y disfrutar de esta hermosa ribera
que solo se puede acceder a ella en barco.
Ubicación: Boca de Yuma.
La Cueva de Berna: esta caverna es sin
duda la cueva más espectacular desde el
punto de vista del número y la calidad de los
petroglifos que contiene, en comparación
con todas las que se conocen en el Este de
la República Dominicana. Alrededor de tres-
cientas figuras están grabadas en sus suelos
y paredes con hermosas estalagmitas y es-
talactitas que muestran dibujos y rasgos de
la cultura precolombina. Ubicación: Boca
de Yuma.
Hoyo Zumbador: es una playa pequeña
conectada al océano a través de una cueva
subterránea, como resultado, la zona parece
un hoyo. Es un lugar ideal para nadar.

Museo Ponce De León: este museo tiene
como propósito reavivar la historia legendaria
del explorador y conquistador español Juan
Ponce de León, aquí se exhiben muebles,
utensilios y artefactos históricos. Este espacio
fue la casa del conquistador en los años entre
1505-1508 y desde aquí luchó en contra los
aborígenes, luego de este episodio el explora-

ña para la defensa y protección del Santuario de
nuestra Señora de La Altagracia en Higüey. Hoy

esta ensenada. La Punta de la Virgen ofrece una
bonita vista de la desembocadura del río, así
como a lo largo de la costa del Parque Nacional

Río Yuma: en este afluente puede navegar

Hoyo Azulito: al llegar a este impresionante

de una piscina natural donde sus transparentes
aguas y sus diferentes tonos de azul, le hacen

llegar hasta él es toda una aventura, puesto que

les que lo convierten en un importante destino
para la práctica de buceo.Una nueva atracción se
suma a las razones que vuelven este punto obli-
gatorio en cualquier recorrido turístico. Corales a
baja profundidad, cuevas submarinas aptas para
laexploración,corrientesdeaguafavorables,bar-
cos hundidos y los denominados “Museos vivos
del mar”, incluyen una amplia variedad de espe-
cies submarinas y un patrimonio cultural suba-
cuático de incalculable valor, que proporcionan
tantas opciones emocionantes y nuevas aven-
turas para todo el que esté dispuesto a practicar
buceoosnorkeling.
Los sitios destacados serían la parte donde se
encuentra el conocido Quedagh Merchant de
Captain Kidd, que fue encontrado cerca de la
costa de la Isla Catalina en el 2008,a tan solo 3

Profundidad: 14m-18m. Apta para buzos
avanzados o de segundo nivel.
Padre Nuestro: un emocionante buceo de
caverna saliendo desde la cueva Padre Nues-
tro en el Parque Nacional Cotubanamá. Para
este recorrido es necesario obtener un permi-
so y ser buzo de cueva certificado.
Profundidad: 16m.Sólo para buzos de cuevas.
La Cueva de Chicho: es un pequeño lago
de agua dulce dentro del Parque Nacional
Cotubanamá y es la puerta de entrada a un
mundo lleno de galerías repletas de esta-
lactitas y estalagmitas. Es necesario obtener
un permiso y ser buzo de cueva para realizar
inmersiones en caverna.
Profundidad: 18 a 36 pies.
Parque, Casa Estrella, Acuario & Paraí-
so Anquillas: estos cuatro arrecifes poco
profundos están llenos de coral y esponjas
marinas.
Profundidad: 12m-14m. Apta para todo
público.
Shark Point: un sitio favorito para bucear
en los arrecifes y La Pared de corales marino.
En este sitio podrá ver mantarrayas y anguila,
pez ángel e incluso pequeños tiburones. Pro-

Shipwreck ST. George: This transatlantic car-
go ship which measures 240 feet, which use
to transport wheat and barley from Norway to
America, was sunk in 1999 to create an artifi-
cial reef. St. George offers clear visibility, large
open areas, and a large amount of marine life.

squid and octopus. Depth: 30m-40m. Suit-

En los casos de ciudadanos italianos no
debe dispensarse el edicto, debiendo fijar-
se el mismo en lugar visible de la oficialía
tres (3) días antes, por lo menos a la fecha
en que se celebrará el matrimonio. Se le-
vantará una constancia en ese sentido.
