A robot is a mechanical or virtual artificial agent, usually an electro-mechanical machine that is guided by a computer program or electronic circuitry. Robots can be autonomous or semi-autonomous. In this thesis, design optimization strategies and synthesis for robotic arm are studied. In the design process, novel optimization methods have been developed to reduce the mass of the whole robotic arm. The optimization of the robotic arm is conducted at three different levels, with the main objective to minimize the robot mass. At the first level, only the drive-train of the robotic arm is optimized. The design process of a robotic arm is decomposed into selection of components for the drive-train to reduce the weight At the second level, kinematic data is combined with the drive-train in the optimization. For this purpose, a dynamic model of the robot is required. Constraints are formulated on the motors, gearboxes and kinematic performance At the third level, a systematic optimization approach is developed, which contains design variables of structural dimensions, geometric dimensions and drive-train composes. Constraints are formulated on the stiffness and deformation. The stiffness and deformation of the arm are calculated through FEA simulation. The main objective of the thesis is to design optimization and synthesis analysis of robotic arm. The corresponding deflections, stresses and strains for that load will be find out by suing the method of finite element analysis.

A measure called Domain Relevance is used to identify candidate features from domain dependent and domain independent corpora both. Opinion Features originated are relevant to a domain. For every extracted candidate feature its individual Intrinsic Domain Relevance and Extrinsic Domain Relevance values are registered. Threshold has been compared with these values and recognizes as best candidate features. In this thesis, By applying feature filter creation the features from online reviews can be identified .

The raw data obtained directly from x-ray acquisition device may yield a comparatively poor image quality representation. In case of medical images human involvement and perception is of prime importance. It is a difficult task to interpret fine features in various contrast situations [5]. Dentists interpret the dental x-rays using their knowledge, perception and experience. So there is a chance of error in deciding the right medical treatment. Nowadays digital dental radiographs, in which enhancement is done automatically, are available but the system are very costly. Our algorithm will give alternate solution to this problem. It includes X-ray imaging & its processing for identifying the exact location & depth of damage in affected tooth. In this paper , we explore image segmentation using ISEF algorithm and active contour model to detect and diagnose the dental caries in case of decayed tooth.
Measuring Individual Tree Height and Crown Diameter for Mangrove Trees with A...INFOGAIN PUBLICATION
Mangroves are unique ecosystems that provide valuable coastal area habitats, protection, and services. Access to observing mangrove forests is typically difficult on the ground. Therefore, it is of interest to develop and evaluate remote sensing methods that enable us to obtain accurate information on the structure of mangrove forests and to monitor their condition in time. The main objective of this study was to develop a methodology for processing airborne lidar data for measuring height and crown diameter for mangrove forests in the north-eastern coastal areas of Brazil. Specific objectives were to: (1) evaluate the most appropriate lidar data processing approach, such as area-based or individual tree methods, (2) investigate the most appropriate parameters for lidar-derived data products when estimating height and crown diameter, such as the spatial resolution of canopy height models and ground elevation models; and (3) compare the accuracy of lidar estimates to field measurements of height and crown diameter. The lidar dataset was acquired over mangrove forest of the northeast of Brazil. The crown diameter was calculated as the average of two values measured along two perpendicular directions from the location of each tree top by fitting a fourth-degree polynomial on both profiles. The lidar-derived tree measurements were used with regression models and cross-validation to estimate plot level field-measured crown diameter. Root mean square error, linear regression and the Nash-Sutcliffe coefficient were also used to compare lidar height and field height. The mean of lidar-estimated tree height was 9,48m and the mean of field tree height was 8.44m. The correlation between lidar tree height and field tree height was r= 0.60, E=-0.06 and RMSE= 2.8. The correlation between height and crown diameter needed to parameterized the individual tree identification software obtained for 32 trees was r= 0.83 and determination coefficient was r2 = 0.69. The results of the current study show that lidar data could be used to estimate height and average crown diameter of mangrove trees and to improve estimates of other mangrove forest biophysical parameters of interest by focusing at the individual tree level. The research presented in this study contributes to the overall knowledge of using lidar remote sensing to measure and monitor mangrove forests.

In response to the call for stewardship, De La Salle Philippines launched the Project Carbon Neutral in 2009. The implementation of this program is being spearheaded by the Lasallian Institute for the Environment (LIFE) and is participated in by all Lasallian schools in the Philippines. The main objective of Project Carbon Neutral or PCN is to benchmark and assess the status of the carbon footprint of De La Salle Philippines (DLSP), the network of Lasallian educational institutions, with the goal of achieving a “green” educational network that is carbon-neutral or better. Since its implementation in 2009, there has been no baseline study conducted along these areas. The extent of implementation and the level of participation of the Lasallian family were looked into in this study. The study surveyed a total of three hundred three (300) purposively sampled members of the De La Salle Lipa community. The mitigating measures of the PCN are perceived to be often implemented and priority is often shown by the Lasallian community. The Lasallian community is perceived to have moderate levels of participation as they often show priority and have fairly supported the activities of the PCN. Geared towards combating the identified problems, this action plan and monitoring and evaluation plan were drafted and put forward.
A exposição Água na Oca, realizada pelo Instituto Sangari em parceria com o Museu de História Natural de Nova York, fica por cinco meses (até 08/05/2011) no Pavilhão Lucas Nogueira Garcez (Oca), no Parque do Ibirapuera, em São Paulo (SP).
Os visitantes poderão ver o tema água ser abordado em múltiplos aspectos por meio de instalações interativas, obras de arte, peças de acervo museológico, aquários reais e virtuais, fotografias e instalações audiovisuais, que ocuparão os 8000 m² do pavilhão.
A realização é do Instituto Sangari em parceria com o Museu de História Natural de Nova York. O brasileiro Marcello Dantas assina como curador.
No espaço do Movimento CYAN, no primeiro andar da Oca, painéis apresentarão a relação entre a água e cidadania, trazendo exemplos simples de economia deste recurso.

Esta actividad de aprendizaje propone retos de cálculo algebraico mediante ecuaciones de 1er. grado, y viso-espacialidad, lo cual dará la oportunidad de formar un rompecabezas. La intención didáctica de esta actividad de aprendizaje es, promover los pensamientos lógicos (convergente) y creativo (divergente o lateral), mediante modelos mentales de: atención, memoria, imaginación, percepción (Geométrica y conceptual), perspicacia, inferencia, viso-espacialidad. Referencias
Cuando trabajamos en Excel y, más concretamente, cuando hacemos usos de
fórmulas y funciones casi es seguro que pongamos referencias a celdas o
conjunto de celdas que no son propiamente la misma celda donde tenemos la
fórmula.
Las referencias son enlaces a un lugar, es decir, cuando en una fórmula
escribimos =SUMA(A1;B1) nos estamos refiriendo a que sume
el contenido de A1 y el contenido de B1.
Existen 3 tipos de referencias:
Referencia Relativa: Las referencias de filas y columnas cambian si se copia
la formula en otra celda, es decir, se adapta a su entorno porque las
referencias las hace con respecto a la distancia entre la fórmula y las celdas
que forman parte de la fórmula. Esta es la opción que ofrece Excel por
defecto.
Supongamos el ejemplo:

2 =A1+2 30
Si ahora copiamos la celda A2 en B3, como la copiamos una columna hacia la
derecha y en una fila hacia abajo, la fórmula cambiará por: =B2+2 . Lo que variará
es la referencia a la celda A1 , al copiarla una columna hacia la derecha se
incrementará el nombre de la columna en uno, es decir, en vez de A pondrá B y,
al copiarla una fila hacia abajo, en vez de fila 1 pondrá 2, resultando en=B2+2 .
Referencia Absoluta: Las referencias de filas y columnas no cambian si se
copia la fórmula a otra celda; las referencias a las celdas de la fórmula son
fijas.
Supongamos el ejemplo:

Si ahora copiamos la celda A2 en B3, aunque la copiemos una columna hacia la
derecha y en una fila hacia abajo, como delante de la columna y delante de la
fila encuentra el signo $ no variará la fórmula y en B3 pondrá =$A$1+2 .
Referencia Mixta: Podemos hacer una combinación de ambas referencias,
haciendo que las filas sean relativas y las columnas absolutas o viceversa.
Supongamos el ejemplo:

Si ahora copiamos la celda A2 en B3 , como hay un signo $ delante de la
columna, aunque se copie una columna más a la derecha ésta no variará, pero
al no tener el signo $ delante de la fila, al copiarla una fila hacia abajo la fila
cambiará por 2 en vez de 1 y el resultado será =$A2+2 .
Supongamos el ejemplo:

Cómo cambiar el tipo de referencia
Una opción para cambiar el tipo de referencia una vez sabemos distinguir entre
los diferentes tipos de referencias que existen y la que más nos interesa en cada
momento es hacerlo a mano.
Las referencias relativas se escriben tal cual vemos la intersección de la celda
con la columna y la fila (A2, B3, D1...).

Para que la referencia sea absoluta, es decir que sea fija, debemos anteponer a
la columna y a la fila el signo $ ($A$2, $B$3, $D$1...).
Para las referencias mixtas, como hemos dicho puede ser una mezcla entre
relativa y absoluta. Por tanto, pueden ser de este tipo ($A2, B$3, $D1...).
Otra opción, en lugar de escribirlo a mano, es hacerlo cuando estemos editando
la fórmula. En el momento en el que se incluyan las celdas referenciadas,
podemos pulsar sobre la tecla F4 y vemos que va cambiando a los posibles tipos
de referencias que podemos hacer con la celda.
Referencias a otras hojas o libros
Otra funcionalidad muy interesante de las referencias es la posibilidad de escribir
referencias a celdas que se encuentran en otras hojas o incluso en otros libros.
Referencia a otras hojas.
Para hacer referencia a celdas de otras hojas debemos indicar el nombre de la
hoja seguido del signo de exclamación y el nombre de la celda.
Por ejemplo: Hoja2!A2. Esta referencia está diciendo que coja la celda A2 de la
hoja Hoja2.
Si la hoja tuviera un nombre personalizado con espacios incluidos, la referencia
sería de este modo 'Nombre de la hoja externa'!A2 ; habría que encerrar el
nombre de la hoja entre comillas simples ' '.
Referencia a otros libros.
Para hacer referencia a celdas de otros libros debemos indicar el nombre del
libro entre corchetes y el resto como acabamos de ver.
Por ejemplo: '[presupuesto 2013]Hoja1'!B2 esta referencia indica que la celda
se encuentra en el libro "Presupuesto 2013", en la Hoja1 y en la celda B2.
Muy importante: Al escribir una cadena de caracteres que incluya espacios
debemos ponerlo siempre entre comillas simples ' '.
