Mental health has been in the news quite a bit lately. Dozens of U.S. states are currently suing Meta for contributing to the youth mental health crisis by inserting addictive features into their products, while the U.S. Surgeon General is touring the nation to bring awareness to the growing epidemic of loneliness and isolation. The country has endured periods of low national morale, such as in the 1970s when high inflation and the energy crisis worsened public sentiment following the Vietnam War. The current mood, however, feels different. Gallup recently reported that national mental health is at an all-time low, with few bright spots to lift spirits.
To better understand how Americans are feeling and their attitudes towards mental health in general, ThinkNow conducted a nationally representative quantitative survey of 1,500 respondents and found some interesting differences among ethnic, age and gender groups.
Technology
For example, 52% agree that technology and social media have a negative impact on mental health, but when broken out by race, 61% of Whites felt technology had a negative effect, and only 48% of Hispanics thought it did.
While technology has helped us keep in touch with friends and family in faraway places, it appears to have degraded our ability to connect in person. Staying connected online is a double-edged sword since the same news feed that brings us pictures of the grandkids and fluffy kittens also feeds us news about the wars in Israel and Ukraine, the dysfunction in Washington, the latest mass shooting and the climate crisis.
Hispanics may have a built-in defense against the isolation technology breeds, owing to their large, multigenerational households, strong social support systems, and tendency to use social media to stay connected with relatives abroad.
Age and Gender
When asked how individuals rate their mental health, men rate it higher than women by 11 percentage points, and Baby Boomers rank it highest at 83%, saying it’s good or excellent vs. 57% of Gen Z saying the same.
Gen Z spends the most amount of time on social media, so the notion that social media negatively affects mental health appears to be correlated. Unfortunately, Gen Z is also the generation that’s least comfortable discussing mental health concerns with healthcare professionals. Only 40% of them state they’re comfortable discussing their issues with a professional compared to 60% of Millennials and 65% of Boomers.
Race Affects Attitudes
As seen in previous research conducted by ThinkNow, Asian Americans lag other groups when it comes to awareness of mental health issues. Twenty-four percent of Asian Americans believe that having a mental health issue is a sign of weakness compared to the 16% average for all groups. Asians are also considerably less likely to be aware of mental health services in their communities (42% vs. 55%) and most likely to seek out information on social media (51% vs. 35%).

1. 1. Descripción de la aplicación:
La aplicación a realizar es una carta de menú para dispositivos móviles táctiles (tablet con
Android) que permite a los clientes de restaurantes realizar pedidos desde su mesa.
Bon Apetit es una verdadera innovación para la atención al cliente en restaurantes, ya que usa de
forma sencilla, rápida y elegante las tecnologías móviles táctiles para recoger los pedidos de los
clientes de un restaurante. El cliente puede navegar por la virtualización de la carta menú,
estudiar cada una de las opciones y pedir las que le apetezca.
Una vez el cliente da el pedido por finalizado, automáticamente se imprime en la cocina para
que se prepare. De esta forma los pedidos quedan registrados en el sistema de facturación y TPV.
2. Descripción del contexto en función de los siguientes aspectos:
Ambiente físico:
Se tendrá que disponer de un buen ambiente, espacio en la mesa para colocar la tablet y así que
no estorbe con la atención de los clientes, que cuente con la adecuada iluminación para así no
cause una mala interacción con el dispositivo en la forma visual.
Ambiente social:
La aplicación es de fácil manejo e intuitivo, es óptimo para clientes con un conocimiento básico
sobre computadoras. Será compartida por grupos de personas que pueden ser familiares, amigos,
compañeros de trabajo, etc. Los cuales tendrán diferentes gustos. Las edades de los usuarios
estarán comprendidas entre 11 a 60 años, sabiendo que habrá límites para personas propensas a
dañar el dispositivo. La aplicación estará diseñada a sabiendas, que el usuario realiza diferentes
tareas sociales, y para estas distracciones de nuestra tarea enfocada(Pedir algo de comer), la
aplicación prevé una importante retroalimentación del estado dela tarea en curso.
Ambiente organizacional:
La aplicación estará en un ambiente jerárquico, con un dueño como entidad superior, siguiéndolo
el administrador y por último los empleados (cocinero, ayudante de cocina, recepcionista,
mesero, ballet), la aplicación servirá de interface entre el cliente y los empleados que administran
los pedidos, como causa-efecto nuestra aplicación llevaría a la eficiencia en la economía del
negocio, ya que se necesitarían menor número de empleados para la atención de los clientes,
pero estos con conocimientos que puedan ayudar a resolver problemas que puedan surgir, con la
interacción cliente-aplicación.
Ambiente de soporte al usuario:
Se tendrá que adaptar a clientes que necesiten de la mayor información sobre los platos a ofrecer,
se contara con una persona la cual estará asignada para un grupo determinado de mesas del
restaurante que pueda explicar el manejo de la aplicación si se trata de clientes que por primera
vez la vayan a utilizar y encuentren complicado su manejo.
Nuestra aplicación por ser de fácil manejo e intuitiva no será de mucho problema para la
retroalimentación de los clientes. Podría surgir el problema de conexión a red, descarga de

2. batería, caída accidental del Tablet ocasionando que no se pueda realizar el pedido, en estos
casos inmediatamente se dispondrá de su respectiva asistencia personal para su correcta solución.
También contara con un enlace de ayuda, que dispondrá de tooltip, como guía virtual, mensajes
de texto, llamados a mesero, como ayuda emergente.
Restricciones: La aplicación será en español. Se efectuara el pedido como la forma tradicional
aunque la diferencia es que no se podrá hacer la impresión de la factura por cuentas separadas
sino la impresión de una única factura, se tendrá que contar con la adecuada iluminación para no
perjudicar cuando se esté usando la aplicación, se contara con una pantalla de 10.1 pulgadas para
ofrecer una resolución adecuada en el momento de mostrar las opciones a ofrecer, nunca se
podrá cambiar de estado LandScape.
También contara con una restricción adicional, la cual no dejara minimizar o cerrar la aplicación
hasta que se realice por lo menos un pedido.
Tradeoffs (requerimientos contradictorios): el encontrarse con clientes que no están
relacionados con tecnología y podría causar el que no quieran lleguen a usar esta herramienta
para realizar sus pedidos.

Día A Día
Comienza clases pues tiene que levantarse muy temprano para ir al colegio ubicado en la
ciudad de Daule. Sus clases comienzan a las siete y media de la mañana y termina a las una y
media de la tarde. Después de sus clases al llegar a su casa, almuerza, se baña y si no tiene
deberes se pone a jugar con su playstation y a navegar en el internet.

A este chico le gusta todo lo que tiene que ver con video juegos, tecnologías modernas, tiene un
playstation, con el cual juega casi todos los días mientras se lo permita su mamá, le atraen los

7. 6. Guías de Usabilidad
Guías
Guía 01:
Durante todo el momento de uso se proveerá de la correcta retroalimentación al
usuario.
Guía 02:
La aplicación deberá presentar la información de manera jerárquica, siendo la
información de mayor relevancia resaltada con mayúsculas, negritasy los controles
visibles a este.
Guía 03:
Se minimizarán la cantidad de elementos en interfaz de la aplicación, con el objetivo
de que el usuario no sufra confusiones.
Guía 04:
Las diferentes pantallas y elementos del menú serán consistentes de modo que el
cliente se sienta familiarizado entre una categoría y otra.
Guía 05:
Los movimientos de la aplicación estarán familiarizados con el modelo mental de los
usuarios.
Guía 06:
La Virtualización de la aplicación será similar al pedido de forma clásica.
Guía 07:
La aplicación será persistente en sus transacciones, ya que contara con la información
constante del pedido en curso.

7. Layout del Prototipo Low – Fi
Cuando el cliente ingrese alaaplicación, en el inicio de éste aparece una pantalla con las opciones
del menú, marcada por defecto la opción asignación de mesa. A su vez en ésta pantalla se
indicalas diferentes opciones del menú.
Presentamos los distintos escenarios:
Al cliente se le entrego la Tablet, con mesa ya asignada y se encuentra en la
pantalla principal de la aplicación donde se mostrara la diferente categoría de
la carta. Ver figura:

9. Una vez ya ingresado a una categoría específica (ej. Arroces) en la cual el
cliente podrá elegir entre losdiferentes platos relacionados a esta categoría.

10. Al escoger el plato (Arroz con recorte), se le mostrara la descripción del plato
elegido, ej. la imagen del plato, el precio, etc. Ver figura:

11. Una vez que el cliente ya ha realizado la elección de todos los platos a
degustar, o desea saber la información de todos los platos escogidos, se
mostrara una ventana en la cual se podrá consultar todo el pedido. Ver
figura:

12. Se mostrara una opción de consultas que podrían tener los clientes en el caso
de que tengan problemas al realizar el pedido, o desean preguntar cualquier
cosa referente a un plato. Esta opción tendrá 2 formas, una que solo será de
envió de un mensaje de consulta, y la otra que será de llamar al mesero. Ver
figura:

13. Tareas probadas
Tarea #1:
Consultar una de las opciones del Menú.
Escenario: Al usuario se le entrego la Tablet, ya tiene asignada una mesa, se
encontrará en la pantalla principal de la aplicación (menú de selección de variedades).
Objetivo: ver cuáles son los problemas que se presentan con la interacción con el
usuario para realizar una de las tareas del menú.
Instrucciones: Consultar la opción de un plato a comer.
Observaciones: Ninguna. En esta sección de la aplicación no encontró problemas
para poder realizar una consulta del menú.
Tarea #2:
Modificación del pedido.
Escenario: el usuario ya ha seleccionado algunos platos del menú y desea modificar
su pedido.
Objetivo: observar si el esquema que hemos aplicado para la edición de modificar
platos es el adecuado (virtualización de la carta de menú).
Instrucciones: editar un plato ya seleccionado en el pedido.
Observaciones: se encontró con problemas para poder modificar el pedido, si el
usuario deseaba modificar las cantidades de los platos, los botones que eran para esta
función no resultaron ser intuitivos, se tendría que ubicar un mensaje que indique que
estos botones de (+ y -) son para aumentar o disminuir la cantidades de platos ya
elegidos.

14. Tarea #3:
Consultar ayuda en el Menú.
Escenario: usuario tiene problemas con el uso de la aplicación.
Objetivo: observar si el sistema de ayuda (vitalización del mesero) es el adecuado
para la interacción con el cliente.
Instrucciones: llamar al mesero.
Observaciones: Ninguna.

Tarea #4:
Consultar monto antes de facturar.
Escenario: usuario ya ha seleccionado varios tipos de platos y bebidas y se encuentra
en cualquier pantalla de la aplicación.
Objetivo: verificar la consistencia de la publicación del monto de la cuenta a pagar.
Instrucciones: ver en cuánto asciende el monto de la cuenta.
Observaciones: Ninguna.
Observaciones adicionales.
Cuando el cliente se encontraba en la factura, y este deseaba regresar a elegir
otro plato de última hora, se le complicaba el uso del botón regresar a una
instancia anterior de la factura (los diferentes platos del menú).
Si algún cliente en el momento de encontrarse en la parte de la factura y
elimina todos los platos elegidos, y este presione la opción de imprimir factura,
el que mostrare la aplicación un mensaje de error al no tener ningún plato
seleccionado.
