2. Tradiciones: Traditions:
Al igual que muchas otras naciones
de América Latina Puerto Rico cuenta
con un buen número de tradiciones
propias que lo vuelven atractivo a los
ojos de cualquier persona, gran parte
de las fiestas y tradiciones cuentan
con cierta relación a temas religiosos
presentes desde épocas coloniales,
por ejemplo la Fiesta de la Cruz
Las Fiestas de Cruz se celebran
nueve noches corridas, se canta el
rosario con cantares y música
particulares ante un altar ricamente
decorado y luego una persona o
familiar obsequia con refrigerios a
los asistentes. La última noche de la
novena se celebra un gran baile.
Like many other Latin American
nations, Puerto Rico has a number
of its own traditions that make it
attractive to anyone, many of the
festivals and traditions have a
certain relationship to religious
themes that have been present
since colonial times. example the
Feast of the Cross
The Fiestas de Cruz are celebrated
nine consecutive nights, the rosary
is sung with particular songs and
music before a richly decorated
altar and then a person or relative
gives refreshments to the attendees.
The last night of the ninth a great
dance is celebrated.
3. Costumbres
isla.
Custom
The identity of Puerto Rico is the result of
the fusion of different cultures, especially
the Taíno, the Spanish and the African.
The influence of these cultures was so
strong on the island that over the years
they inherited a myriad of customs and
traditions of these ancestors. Some
names of peoples, foods, objects and
household utensils have been inherited
from the Tainos. Hammocks are
undoubtedly one of the inherited objects
of this better known culture.
Of the Spaniards they acquired the
catholic religion and the language. For
their part, the Africans bequeathed the
rhythms of the bomb and the plena, the
typical musical genres of the island.
