Este documento explica cómo formar preguntas de sí o no en español invirtiendo el orden del sujeto y el verbo y usando un signo de interrogación invertido al comienzo. También cubre cómo formar preguntas usando palabras interrogativas como ¿qué?, ¿quién?, ¿cuándo?, ¿dónde? y ¿por qué?, invirtiendo el orden del sujeto y el verbo. Por último, da ejemplos de preguntas y respuestas para practicar.
2. Tengo una pregunta…
Forming YES and NO questions is easy. In
Spanish, reverse the order of the subject
and the verb (verb 1st and subj. 2nd) and use
an inverted question mark at the beginning
of the question.
¿Estudia Carlos en la biblioteca?
v s o
Carlos estudia en la biblioteca.
s v o
3. Que significa la pregunta
When forming a simple yes/no question you
open with a verb and elminate in English the
“do you” or “does he/she” because it is
translated in the question with the verb
already. Spanish doesn’t have a “do you”
translation for questions.
¿Estudia Carlos en la biblioteca?
Does Carlos study in the library?
¿Tocas la guitarra?
Do you play the guitar?
4. Respuestas
Answering YES and NO questions.
•When answering affirmatively, place Sí at
the start of your sentence.
•When answering negatively, use a double
negative (two no’s):
¿Estudia Carlos en la biblioteca?
Sí, Carlos estudia en la biblioteca
No, Carlos no estudia en la biblioteca.
5. Ahoras: Formen una pregunta de Sí o no y
respondan en una frase completa
1. Marta / escribir bien / las frases (sí)
1. Tú / trabajar / los fines de semana (no)
2. Marcos y Juan / correr / por la noche (no)
3. Tú y Anita / comprender todo / en la clase
de ciencias (sí)
4. Ud. / bailar mucho / en las fiestas (sí)
5. Las chicas / salir con los chicos / el viernes
por la noche (no)
6. Preguntas y respuestas…
When answering questions, pay attention to the
verb form. The verb form in the answer will be
based on the question.
If the question is asked of you, the answer is in
the I form. If the question asks about him, then
the answer is also about him, etc.
EVERY sentence (answer) must have a
subject and a verb followed by an object.
