• Esta catedral se encuentra en la Plaza
de Santa María, en la provincia de
Lugo.
• This cathedral is located in the Plaza
De Santa Maria, Lugo province.

• Arquitectura románica,
arquitectura del Barroco,
arquitectura neoclásica y
arquitectura gótica.

NOTA IMPORTANTE:
Aunque era originalmente
románica, a principio del
siglo XIV la cabecera
primitiva de derrumbó
para dar lugar a una
capilla mayor a un
deambulatorio al que se
abrían cinco nuevas
capillas absidades de
estilo gótico.

4. 3. CONTRUCCIÓN/CONSTRUCTION
Empezó en el año 1129 y terminó en el 1273. Fue
construida por Reimundo de Monfort.

6. 5. CARACTERÍSTICAS FÍSICAS
• PRIMERA: la catedral posee una planta de cruz
latina con tres naves, crucero y girola con cinco
capillas absidales.
• SEGUNDA: las ventanas del triforio son de arco
agudo o apuntando al interior y al exterior.
• TERCERA: a la izquierda de la entrada a la catedral
está la Torre Vieja, rematada por un cuerpo de
campanas renacentista, terminado por Gaspar De
Arce en 1580.

7. 5.1 Physical Features
• First: the cathedral has a Latin cross with three
naves, transept and ambulatory with five
apsidal chapels.
• Second: the clerestory windows are sharp
pointed arch inside and outside.
• Third: to the left of the entrance to the
cathedral is the Old Tower topped by a
Renaissance bell body completed by Gaspar
de Arce in 1580.

8. 6. INTERIOR DE LA CATEDRAL
• Nada más entrar parece una iglesia anodina y sosa
pero más lejos de la realidad. Es muy grande y cuenta
con un relato mayor impresionante obra de Cornelis de
Holanda.
• El interior, a pesar de las reformas y modificaciones
sufridas por el proyecto original del maestro Raimundo
podemos rastrear bastante bien las formas del tiempo
original. Hay zonas correspondientes a la unión de la
nave lateral con el transepto vista desde la cabecera en
la que aparecen elementos románicos de un primer
momento, como los arcos de medio punto que más
atrás se trocan en arcos apuntados.

9. 6. CATHEDRAL INTERIOR
• Nothing else seems to enter a nondescript and bland
church but nothing is further from the truth. It is very
large with an impressive and account greater story of
Cornelis of Holland. Inside despitealterations and
modifications suffered by the original project master.
Raimundo can trace pretty good forms of the original
time. There corresponding to the union of the aisle
and transept seen from the head where a
Romanesquen Elememtis first appears, as the arches
that further back are died in arches areas.
