  2. Three major categories. Sensorbus =not too much smart but very cost effective Fieldbus = lots of intelligence but more costly These two features define where the busses get applied. Note that a sensorbus may be very complimentary with a fieldbus. They do not have to be mutually exclusive in a plant.
  3. Interoperability The Fieldbus Foundation tests Dispositivos to make sure that they will talk to other certified Dispositivos.
  4. Point: Added block parameters for advanced control support built into the function block Provides for easy in use and consistency in implementation that can not be matched by the competition….
  5. The DeltaV S-series hardware, shown here, is an evolution of the proven M-series hardware. The new design delivers installation and robustness enhancements while still using the same proven technologies field tested over the last decade. The S-series hardware has been re-designed with a patent pending heat dissipation technology that allows for a completely enclosed shell (no vents). This prevents particles from entering the cards and short-circuiting electronics. S-series hardware also offers “Easy-on-Hard-off” technology that means there are no screws used when installing the cards onto the backplane, yet to get them off takes a manual action by pushing a button on top of the card.
  6. Here you can see the S series controller and power supply in a larger view that displays how they easily snap on the backplane, and the mechanism on the top of the controller that allows for removal. Also notice the patent pending sealed design that allows for heat dissipation without the possibility of anything entering into the electronics. Te backplane itself is also redesigned and clamps on the din rail very easily.
  7. S seried controller includes the SD+ controller and the SX controller, which compares to the MD+ and MX controller of the M-series. All E/S cards are available in S series and they use the same electronics and software that has been proven for more than a decade in the M series hardware. And, by the way, customers can upgrade to version 11 without needing to upgrade to S series. M series will be supported for the long term, but there may be funciónality that customers want to take advantage of in the S series, so adding S series hardware on an expansion is a good example of how S series M Series can co-exist on the same ACN. Transition….
  8. And here you can see M series and S series hardware on the same control network, working side by side…
  9. In addition to S series controllers and E/S cards he have also added a better solutions for connecting up wireless Dispositivos. The Wireless gateway 1420 could not be redundant, and it couldn’t be mounted in a hazardous area either. In version 11, this has been fixed.
  10. So the functionality of the gateway have been split in two: a Wireless E/S card and a Smart Wireless Remote link that can be mounted out in the hazardous area, as close as possible to the Dispositivos.
  11. The Wireless E/S card sits on the DeltaV Control Network and connects to the Wireless Remote link via RS 485 cable with a maximum distance of 200 meters. This gives a lot of benefits by increasing availability, reducing both installed cost and footprint, and is more forgiving. And as with our previous wireless solution is lowers life cycle cost and remove the need for engineering drawings.
  12. And it also offers full redundancy, meaning that there is redundant communication from the controllers to the WIOC, redundant power can be connected to the WIOC, and the WIOC is redundant in itself. Furthermore, the RS485 communication to the Wireless links and the wireless links themselves are redundant. This means that our new wireless solution offers redundancy all the way from the Dispositivos to the controller.
  13. Here is a close up view of the WIOC that shows Ethernet connections and power redundant. It also shows the WIOC itself redundant and also the connections to the remote link, which is optionally redundant…
  14. This means that wireless installations effectively removes the need for E/S cards and wired marshalling and thus reducing the footprint significantly (POOF!)
  15. So if we look at what work we had to do using traditional wireing, it included all of these tasks as part of the Controller and E/S configuration, Marshalling work and junction boxes out in the field. This is where wireless can reduce work….
  16. We see all E/S, marshalling, and JB work is eliminated, and much of the controller work is also eliminated… So that takes care of Wireless, but not all E/S can be wireless, at least not yet 
  17. FF technology requires third party power supplies and power conditioners to work. If you required any diagnósticos, there where many options, everything from oscilloscopes to handheld Dispositivos to third party diagnósticos Dispositivos…
  18. But the third party diagnósticos Dispositivos, like P&F shown here, where not easily integrated into the system and actually involved both RS485 and OPC to get it to DeltaV. There has got to be a better way!!!
  19. So we integrated power and diagnósticos in our new S series H1 cards, which eliminates 3 rd party power conditioners and dedicated power supplies. But we also integrated diagnósticos…
  20. So now maintenance staff can wait for the DeltaV H1 card to notify of problems on the physical layer, such as missing terminators, power consumptions, etc. Easy – all integrated!
  21. You want redundancy – no problem!!
  22. BP SECCO has about 2500 segments About 1250 H1 cards About 2500*2 = 5000 power conditioners since power redundancy is used (see cabinet photo) There are up to 80 power conditioners per cabinet (see photo) (16 rows x 5 rows per cabinet)   Number of single sided cabinets is : 5000 / 80 = 62.5 single sides Number of double sided cabinets is : 62.5 /2 = 32 double sided
  23. So far we’ve looked at number of innovations that were developed using the principles of Human Centered Design, but before we finish there’s one more innovation that I’d like to show you. Let’s say you’ve selected a wired HART solution…well, as with Foundation Fieldbus and Smart Wirless, we’ve worked to make this solution as easy as possible.   Many of you have told that the biggest problems you have with projects are late changes around E/S requirements, which ripple through all parts of the implementation. For example, these changes can mean rework on drawings, control system partitioning, moving wires, building new cabinets, and many other detailed tasks. These changes add cost, time, and most importantly risk to the project. The practice of wired marshalling only intensifies these problems.
  24. Today, this is how a project is typically engineered.. Field home run wires land here on terminal strips. These then must be cross-marshalled to the appropriate controller and E/S cards.
  25. All of this takes a lot of time and money and after a while it becomes a rats nest that is very hard to modify. And what if you want to change something at the end of the project?? Again, using HCD, we asked the question: “Isn’t there a better way?” The answer is yes, so let’s see how.
  26. This is what we call Electronic Marshalling, and there are many benefits. As in wired marshalling, you still land the field wires on the right side of the marshalling cabinet, but there are no cross wires. All of that work, design, and engineering simply goes away. That’s because, with Electronic Marshalling, each individual E/S channel can be used with any controller in the system—meaning all of the E/S can be bound to the control system much later in the project.   But there is more, each individual channel is also characterized to become the appropriate E/S type, AI, AO, DI, DO, simply by plugging in this passive A/D convertor module called a CHARM. Land the wires anytime you want, characterize it with a CHARM, and drag it to the appropriate controller. Single channel integrity, fully redundant to the terminal, incredibly adaptable to late change orders—no marshalling, no waiting for partitioning, just CHARM and go.
  27. When we look a little closer at the Electronic Marshalling we see that at the top there is a redundant CHARM E/S Card that has redundant ethernet communication back to the controllers. There is also redundant power and communication to the individual CHARMs shown at the bottom of the screen. The CHARM base plates can fit 12 CHARM terminal blocks and each terminal block fits one CHARM, and there can be a total of 8 X 12 CHARMS on one CHARM E/S card, so think of it as a 96 channel E/S card with single channel integrity and single channel granularity (meaning you can pick and choose what E/S type you want…
  28. Here is a closer look at the base plate with terminal blocks and CHARMS. No screw driver is needed to remove either CHARM nor the CHARM terminal block. In the AI and AO CHARMs there is a HART modem per channel, which means faster HART communication. And, BTW, we support HART v7
  29. Here you can see a comparison between some of the most used HART revisions. Rev 5 has been around for a long time, but in resent years rev 6 and 7 have improved the functionality of HART, also including WirelessHART
  30. CHARM E/S cards are redundant with redundant communication both the controllers and CHARM. Each CHARM has redundant power and the CHARM is actually more reliable than the Dispositivos that connects up to it. Furthermore, each CHARM is current limiting and acts as a fuse meaning that other 95 channels are protected by fault on one channel. This means if one channel has a problem in the field, it doesn’t propagate to the other channels.
  31. Each individual CHARM (channel by channel basis) can be assigned to any controller on the network, and the CHARM E/S hardware is built for ease of use (like everything else in DeltaV). The CHARMS willautomatically key the terminal block the first time to the appropriate type of CHARM, so incorrect replacement is avoided. Field techicians wire field wires to the terminal block just like they have been used to for 30 years or more of wired marshalling. The CHARMs can also be ejected to allow for hot work on a channel by channel basis.
  32. So again, wires and cabinets are removed. Gone is E/S cards in controller cabinets, and gone is the traditional wired marshalling. All that is left is the CHARM E/S cards in the Electronic Marshalling cabinets with Ethernet cables connecting it up to the controllers.
  33. We are also making it easier to design cabinets by introducing standard marshalling cabinets. These include with rails and components installed, without CIOC and CHARMS. This means E/S from field can be wired up early and can be electronicly marshalled with CHARMs at a later time.
  34. But we can take it one step further. Electronic Marshalling can be remoted to field junction boxes, as can be seen in this slide. Simply place a CHARM E/S card and associated CHARM E/S right next to your Dispositivos and run CAT5 or fiber back to your controller cabinets. No more marshalling cabinets at all. We’ve tried to provide the ultimate in choice and flexibility for how you want to land your E/S.
  35. With remote junction boxes all the marshalling cabinets disappear and controller cabinets shrink to just include controllers and no E/S cards. This means less design, less footprint, less wire and wiring problems, like grounding for example.
  36. So again wired marshalling required a lot of work…
  37. With Electroninic marshalling in field mounted junction boxes a lot of that work is gone and your life became a lot easier..
  38. 40. So in Sumario; with wireless installation tying Dispositivos redundant back to the controllers, green field Fácilities can use wireless Dispositivos for 30 % of the Dispositivos. Saving project by approximately 7%, and obviously, in brownfield installation, many measurements that previously wasn’t brought into the control system, no can be easily tied in wirelessly.
  41. Sumario on FF with integrated power
  42. Sumario on Electronic Marshalling…
  43. We call this “E/S a demanda”. It means that you, our customer gets to choose:   WHAT you want WHEN you want it WHERE you want it Wired, bussed, or wireless; we have the best solution!
  44. How is this Dispositivos ainformación
  45. Main Points: First of all, embedding APC into DeltaV makes APC easier to implement. Our goal is to: Read Mission Statement The design of our Control Avanzadotools is based on meeting the needs of the average process engineer, namely Control Avanzadoshould be readily available. If they’re already in your control system, you can’t get much more available than that. And they should be easy to use and quick to implement. Transition: It takes real work to make Control Avanzadoeasy, Emerson has made the investment to make APC easy by embedding it directly into our DeltaV System.
  46. Main Points: So what makes Embedded Control AvanzadoEasy to Use? First consider how traditional APC is implemented in a separate Supervisory Computer with a different database, different user interface, and different configuration environment from what the plant process engineers use for their DCS. Dealing with a separate supervisory level can be complex and costly to implement and maintain. We have made things easy by: Embedding the Control Avanzadoapplications as a standard feature of the DeltaV System Using the same Engineering configuration and diagnóstico tools that are used for the standard DeltaV engineering environment We have one “look and feel” for the operator interface for both basic and advanced control, Plus a simulation environment for testing applications before they go on-line. And with Embedded APC, we’ve removed a lot of the headaches of traditional control: With DeltaV there’s no need for a separate supervisory control computer. That means, NO extra databases, NO integration efforts, NO extra Operator Displays Bottom Line: Easy to Use – NO Headaches from interfacing with a separate APC environment.
  47. Main Points: To illustrate the New “Easy to Use” Approach to Advanced Control, consider how we configure Model Predictive Control in our standard engineering environment. As easy as configuring PID controls – just drag-n-drop. And since we are in our standard engineering environment, you have the full capabilities of Control Studio for off-line configuration and On-line operation.
  48. Main Points: Implementing APC applications is only part of the picture. To maximize return on investment, you must also insure they continue to run after they have been commissioned. With more than 50% of traditional APC applications being turned off in 2 years, its critical to address the long term sustained desempeño of the control applications. Transition: So why are applications not staying on-line?
  49. Main Points: There are many factors effecting the long term desempeño of APC applications: Often the problem is faulty valves or field Dispositivos. Process changes may require model updates or control modifications. For Traditional APC, this usually requires an outside expert to update the control to reflect changes in the process. Traditional APC can be so complex that the control can not be maintained by a plant engineer, so that as soon as there are problems, the application is turned off. If the person who maintains the system leaves, then the knowledge leaves with him resulting in a faster rate of decay in improved desempeño Transition: We know APC can provide significant benefit initially but how can you sustain desempeño over the long haul?
  50. Main Points: To Sustain APC Control desempeño it is important to build a strong control foundation based on Healthy Field Dispositivos, and Properly Tuned Loops Transition: It doesn’t matter how good your APC application is, if you don’t have good field measurements and control valves, your APC won’t perform well and won’t stay on-line.
  51. Main Points: To summarize the benefits of DeltaV’s Embedded Advanced Control: We’ve invested in making DeltaV APC easy to use, for the average engineer Our embedded architecture utilizes common configuration tools, operator displays, and test environments And to insure our applications stay on-line, we utilize field health información and provide monitoring, diagnósticos, and tuning tools In Sumario, we provide a higher return on investment with lower cost implementation and higher sustained desempeño.
  52. Main Point: With PlantWeb and DeltaV Embedded APC, we’ve added block parameters built into the function blocks to provide field Dispositivos status información. This field información provides a level of reliability that can not be matched by the competition…. With PlantWeb we can proactively identify Dispositivos problems, so they can be fixed before the Control Avanzadodeteriorates. And if there are Dispositivos problems, the advanced controls will not use faulty información and will take appropriate action to insure the integrity of the APC application. Transition: Monitoring status, diagnosing valve problems, and fine tuning regulator controls are a key success factor in maintain the benefits for Advanced Control.
  53. Main Point: With Control avanzado embebido DeltaVs, we have provided the capability to Sustain Control desempeño by Automatically monitoring all underlying control loops to identify faulty field Dispositivos and poorly tuned loops. When a loop needs tuning, we have an automated tuning package to finely tune loops in a fraction of the normal time. All this then provides a solid foundation to implement Advanced Controls that stay on-line and keep delivering benefits.
  54. Starting in DeltaV v9.3, we have incorporated Intelligent Control capability into our existing desempeño Monitoring package (Inspect) and Tuning Package (Tune) to provide a next generation Control desempeño Suite called DeltaV Insight. With DeltaV Insight, the user is able to seamlessly navigate between desempeño Monitoring, Loop diagnósticos, Controller Tuning and Adaptive Control. With the embedded process model calculations, you will gain new Insight into your process to identify opportunities for improvement, locate the source of control problems (such as bad valves), and quickly re-tune control loops when necessary. And where appropriate you can quickly implement other Control Avanzadoapplications such as MPC Predict and Fuzzy Logic.
  55. On-demand tuning with DeltaV InSight is very simple. InSight guides the user through the process: First the user sets the size of the steps made to the control output Press Test and the application will automatically step the output up and down. No other change to operating mode is necessary. When Testing is over, Tune will automatically calculate recommended tuning parameters. To accept the recommended tuning you press Update and InSight automatically loads the tuning parameters into the control block. You can also simulate the loop to graphically evaluate the control loop desempeño with the recommended tuning, and try “what-if” tuning scenarios. (Optional) DeltaV InSight's On-Demand Tuning is available for PID and Fuzzy Logic control blocks in the DeltaV controller or Emerson Foundation fieldbus Dispositivos. During testing, the loop remains under control to prevent large disturbances to the process. The on-demand tuning method is based on the patented Åström-Hägglund algorithm referred to as the relay-oscillation method.
  56. DeltaV InSight's Adaptive Tuning is available for all PID blocks that reside in the controller and have embedded process learning enabled. Adaptive tuning is based on process models that are continuously calculated based on changes the operator makes during normal day-to-day operation. The process models used for tuning are validated using quality parameters for model identification and model variability. Tuning recommendations are automatically provided for validated models based on Lambda or IMC tuning rules. A tuning index provides the predicted % change in variability for the new tuning recommendation and is used to indicate which loops should be retuned. The main advantage of Adaptive Tuning is no additional testing is necessary, and new tuning is automatically calculated based on normal operator changes. Therefore, if process condition change, you will be notified that the controller needs to be retuned (via Inspect) and new tuning parameters will be available (via Adaptive Tuning). To accept the recommended tuning you press Update and InSight automatically loads the tuning parameters into the control block. You can also simulate the loop to graphically evaluate the control loop desempeño with the recommended tuning, and try “what-if” tuning scenarios, or Transition: You can also analyze the models used for the adaptive tuning calculations by selecting the model analysis tab.
  57. DeltaV InSight also provides closed loop adaptive control which is ideal for non-linear processes. For example, here we have a non-linear valve which was tuned near the high end of the valve position, but becomes unstable at the low end where the valve moves more per %output from the control loop. This is a common example. Other examples include changing feed rates or operating temperatures.
  58. With DeltaV InSight’s Adaptive Control turned on, you can get the same closed loop response time across the entire operating region. This can be especially important when you are using cascaded loops or for control loops manipulated by Control Avanzadoapplications like DeltaV PredictPro.
  59. Main Point: DeltaV Fuzzy is as easy as PID if not easier! Fuzzy Logic Control may be used to replace PID in demanding applications to achieve better control – Especially for noisy signals or where aggressive non-linear behavior is needed. Fuzzy has the same inputs and parameters as a PID except that the tuning is determined by three scaling factors rather than P,I, and D tuning parameters. These scaling factors determine the quality of control and are automatically calculated using DeltaV Tune.
  60. Main Points: In this example we can compare the control desempeño of a PID vs Fuzzy control loop. For a SP change, the Fuzzy controller tends to be more aggressive than PID; however, Fuzzy exhibits less overshoot. For the load disturbance, notice the Fuzzy controller exhibits more dramatic moves initially.
  61. Main Points: DeltaV Predict is a multivariable Model Predictive Control and Optimization product which is fully embedded into the DeltaV controller. DeltaV Predict is ideal for difficult control applications with multiple process interactions, long delay times, and multiple process constraints. And because DeltaV Predict is fully embedded in DeltaV, its easy to use and can be applied by the typical plant engineer. Its Scalable for both small and large problems and includes an embedded LP for on-line optimization. For small applications, Predict can be used as a PID replacement, Bottom Line: DeltaV Predict is powerful and easy to use.
  62. Main Points: A basic concept of Model Predictive Control is that the control predicts future process behavior based on past process input changes. MPC predicts future behavior based on step response models.
  63. Main Points: Another reason DeltaV Predict is easy to use is because it includes an operator display that is automatically configured based on the MPC configuration. We also provide a wide selection of faceplate templates or dynamos for inclusion on custom graphic displays. The standard display includes a trend window which not only displays past desempeño, but also displays the future “predicted” process desempeño. The future trends help operators anticipate what’s likely to happen in the future, and to help explain why the control is making moves to the process. All of the MPC variables are displayed with miniature faceplates which are expanded when selected. Controlled Variables and Manipulated Variables are automatically highlighted to help you quickly identify active constraints. Transition: Identifying constraints is important, especially when optimizing your process.
  64. Main Points: DeltaV Neural is a full feature Neural Network modeling tool which is fully embedded into the DeltaV system. DeltaV Neural is ideal to help operations control their process with virtual sensors that provide continuous on-line measurement normally only available through lab analysis. No longer does an operator have to wait hours for the lab to return the results of his sample. DeltaV Neural can be used for a wide range of applications including difficult non-linear process which are difficult to model with first principle methods. Transition: And because DeltaV Neural is embedded into your control system, its easy to use and very cost effective.
  65. Main Points: As with all DeltaV Advanced Control, configuration is performed through Control Studio. Simply Drag-and-Drop the Neural Block, and specify the input connections. We’ve also provided special input blocks for Laboratory Input and On-line Analyzers. These blocks include all the data snapshot and synchronization logic to make your virtual sensor easy to implement. Transition: Once you’ve configured your inputs, your ready to select process data for training your model.
  66. HSE 166 is a research report, evaluating alarms in 15 operational plants EEMUA 191 is a guide line to the design, specification and implementation of good alarm systems Human Factors in Alarm Design is a collection of articles from a one day alarming session.
  67. DeltaV Analyze provides the información required to monitor progress against site goals or the ISA-18.2/ EEMUA-191 benchmarks. KPIs are based on workstation area assignments for a true picture of incoming alarm rates by Operator. Alarm rate bands can be set to match the site alarm philosophy document.
  68. In addition, the DeltaV system of function locks and user keys offers a very finely granular ability to allocate system access to users so they can only access system functions required for their job functions. Also, access to certain system functions can be gramted on an area by area basis.
  69. Next we will switch to Ethernet and switching technology… In the past we have used COTS network switch requiring the use of either an SNMP application or the switch management application from the switch supplier. These applications require installation and setup by experienced IT personnel. Usually the IT personnel retain control of the applications as they use this application to setup the switches and to monitor and troubleshoot the network. This application is also used to disable (and enable when needed) the unused switch ports. Since this application is managed by IT typically the control system maintenance personnel do not have access to it. They need to contact IT to enable ports during maintenance or troubleshooting activities. This can be difficult or time-consuming especially in off hours or on the weekend when IT personnel may not be on duty.
  70. The solution is in DeltaV’s unique, Built for purpose Smart Switches. The DeltaV approach is to use the built for purpose DeltaV Smart Switch and patented auto-lockdown application. This application is accessible to all DeltaV users with Can Configure, Can Download or Can Calibrate privileges to allow these users to automatically unlock the unused switch ports rather than having to contact IT for this activity. When work is complete a single command will relock all the unused switch ports. The auto-relock timer will also automatically relock the unused switch ports after 60 minutes so that the switches are never accidentally left in an insecure state. It’s that Easy!! The Smart switches can also generate PlantWeb Alerts when there is failure in the hardware, giving maintenance personnel the información they need to quickly fix any problems..
  71. In v11 the switch becomes a “DeltaV Dispositivos”. - no longer a separate network Dispositivos managed by 3 rd party application Easy to use New DeltaV Smart Switch Command Center application to manage and diagnose switch and network issues. Still plug and play for switching functions
  72. So lets see how you would configure Cisco- Connect serial cable to switch from PC/laptop – connection is on back of switch so it has to be done “on the bench” – can’t be done if switch is installed in cabinet. Establish connection and use command line interface [with cryptic command structure] to give switch a network address (IP address) and subnet mask. Make other configuration changes using command line interface [that are not available using web type interface] Plug in Ethernet cable and browse to switch to use Web interface to complete configuration and
  73. With DeltaV Smart switches it is another story: Install all DeltaV components, including switches, and get system communicating. Note that switches are plug and play so they will provide proper DeltaV switching functions regardless of configuration status. Be sure all the right hardware is installed in the right places When ready to configure Smart Switches open the Smart Switch Command Center Smart Switch Command Center will auto-sense all of the Smart Switches on the networks and present a list of switches in both primary and secondary networks ready to be configured Select switch and flash LEDs to identify the switch. Drag a switch to the appropriate network [primary or secondary] to configure. You can only drag switch to the same highway where it is sensed. No chance of messing up the configuration – next slide…
  74. No indication from CISCO
  75. Alerts automatically appears in operator and maintenance consoles…
  76. Furthermore, if someone attempts to connect to a locked down network, the attempt will be prevented, but a PlantWeb alarm is also sent to operators and maintenance personnel…
  77. Still using epoxy to prevent un-authorized access to the network?
  78. No longer needed, switches can be locked down with one click.!!!
