El festival del equinoccio de primavera de 2013 en la ciudad de Hayward, California celebrará la llegada de la primavera con música en vivo, comida, actividades para niños y más. El festival tendrá lugar el 17 de marzo en la plaza del Ayuntamiento de Hayward e incluirá exhibiciones, patrocinios y entretenimiento cultural para promover la estación y recaudar fondos para la radio comunitaria KCRH.

2. Much has been said about the equinox. The oldest data known comes from the beginning of mankind. We know that
nature is a factor in the actions of mankind. Water, earth, and sun are elements that generate life; so, one way or another,
until today, we honor them.
During this phenomenon, the sun makes a journey on Earth ecliptic, crosses the Ecuador and passes north of the southern
hemisphere, leading to this event, in which day and night are equal around the world, with a duration of 12 hours each.
An equinox occurs twice a year and the first one is around March 20 th. The name "equinox" is derived from the Latin
“aequus” (equal) and “nox” (night), because around the equinox, night and day are about equal length. The spring equinox
is known as vernal equinox and it is the moment when the North Pole changes from a six-months night to a six-months
day. The Northern Hemisphere ends its winter to enter into spring season. The Southern Hemisphere begins its autumn
season and the South Pole ends its six-months day and begins a six-months night.
In Yucatan, Mexico, you will appreciate the most impressive spectacle we inherited from our Mayan ancestors; whether in
Dzibilchaltún or in the Pyramid of Kukulcán also known as "El Castillo" in Chichen Itza.
This phenomenon exposes great cultural advancement of the Mayans, because its realization is the amalgamation of
astronomy, mathematics, chronology, geometry and religion.
Mucho se ha dicho acerca del equinoccio. Los datos más antiguos datan incluso, desde los inicios de la humanidad. Se
sabe que la naturaleza es un factor determinante en las acciones del hombre. El agua, la tierra y el sol son elementos
generadores de vida, por ello de una forma u otra, hasta la fecha se les rinde tributo. Durante este fenómeno, el Sol hace
un recorrido eclíptico sobre la Tierra, cruza el Ecuador y pasa del hemisferio sur al norte, dando lugar a este evento, en el
cual el día y la noche son iguales en todo el mundo, con una duración de 12 horas cada uno.
Un equinoccio ocurre dos veces al año y el primero de ellos es alrededor del 20 de marzo. El nombre de "equinoccio"
proviene del latín “aequus” (igual) y “nox” (noche), ya que alrededor del equinoccio, la noche y el día son de longitud casi
igual. El equinoccio de primavera se denomina equinoccio vernal y es el momento en el que el Polo Norte deja la noche de
seis meses y entra en un día de seis meses. El hemisferio norte da fin al invierno y da paso a la temporada de primavera.
En el hemisferio sur comienza la temporada de otoño y el Polo Sur termina su día de seis meses y comienza una larga
noche de seis meses también.

mayas; ya sea en Dzibilchaltún o en La Pirámide de Kukulkán también conocida como "El Castillo", en Chichén Itzá.
