Este documento describe el trabajo de organizaciones que promueven el voluntariado en Brasil para construir una sociedad más justa. Detalla el perfil cambiante de los voluntarios, el uso creciente de Internet y el lanzamiento exitoso de un portal de voluntariado en línea que ha conectado a miles de voluntarios con organizaciones. También resalta los desafíos continúos de fortalecer las asociaciones, capacitar a las organizaciones y ampliar el alcance del voluntariado digital.

9. La edad de las personas que nos buscan cambió sustancialmente pues un 76% de los voluntarios/as registrados/as tienen entre16 y 40 anos. El grado de formación encontrado en la mayoría de voluntarios – 82% - es de estudios universitarios completos, o cursando. 44%son trabajadores y 28% están estudiando, totalizando un 72%. Desmistifica la antigua imagen que afirma que el voluntariado era una práctica de personas jubiladas o en paro queriendo escapar del aburrimiento. Ya no es una actividad exclusivamente femenina. El compromiso masculino creció casi un 10% en relación al femenino.
