SCOPE OF POSITION
This position is responsible for assessing the performance improvement initiatives in the areas of patient flow, emergency department, and inpatient
operations and movement of patients through care settings. Responsible for observation, escalation and resolution of any patient flow barriers,
challenges and operational problems for QHR clients.
• Works with QHR clinical leadership to plan and deliver resources to clients within fixed budgetary guidelines.
• Executes client project plans related to various areas of the clinical operations/process improvement Practice including, but not limited to,
operational effectiveness, infrastructure, staffing and productivity, fiscal stewardship, regulatory compliance, leadership development, and care
delivery. Works to implement technology and business process improvements within these functions.
• Deconstructs client processes, assesses operations, and implements recommendations for developing baseline measurements to track
improvement. Works with hospital administration, nursing leaders, physicians, and other client staff to review findings and identify
improvement opportunities.
• Provides support for clients on selected projects, including supervisory and advisory responsibility of consultants and analysts related to client
management. Participates in administrative activities as needed, including training and mentoring analyst and consultant staff.
• Helps identify “best practices” and projects to serve as client learning models.
• Creates, coordinates, and facilitates internal communication related to the progress of assigned projects. Coordinates meetings and supporting
materials to conduct analysis, tasks, and final product for the client.
• Functions as project leadership on assigned projects, including focus on coordination of initiatives related to process improvement, redesign
and client engagements as needed.
• Assists in creating and implementing new operational process improvement and redesign tools to improve client operations and productivity.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
• Maintains high level knowledge of federal, state and local healthcare laws and regulations.
• Must have background and/or experience in at least 3 of the following areas – nursing operations, patient throughput (care coordination),
discharge planning, ED, OR, HCAHPS and quality.
• Excellent interpersonal and team management skills, significant process improvement experience, and exceptional problem solving and data
analysis skills, change management skills and facilitation/project management skills.
• Demonstrated ability to leverage existing engagements for follow-up work.
• Highly developed presentation, written and verbal communication skills.
• Conducts independent, through and valid analysis and interpretation of data and draws logical conclusions.
• Effectively participates in proposal writing process for existing and new clients.
• Must have strong organizational skills, excellent interpersonal skills as well as the ability to react quickly with regard to problem solving.
• Advanced Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint computer skills. Database applications, Mapping or other specialized
software applications desirable.
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment with rapid turnaround times.
• Ability to work in a fluid structural environment requiring a high degree of collaboration.
EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATION
• Master’s degree required, preferably in Nursing, Healthcare Administration or Business Administration.
• Maintains a current, valid license as a registered nurse in good standing.
• 5+ years’ experience in a nursing leadership position.
• 3 years’ related experience in a direct patient care environment required, with background/knowledge of patient placement and/or
patient flow.
• 3 years’ experience with a nationally recognized consulting firm preferred.
• Extensive travel required. Must be willing to travel Monday through Friday with the expectation that most Fridays will be spent in your
home office.
