3. Subject + to be + Verb -ING

4. – hablar = hablando
– comer= comiendo
– escribir= escribiendo
• Yo estoy hablando. I am talking.
• Tú estás comiendo. You are eating.
• Él está escribiendo. He is writing.

5. Some Irregularities!
Verbs that have the stem change ou or
e I in the preterite have the same
change in the present participle.
servir (e  i)
sirviendo
pedir (e  i)
pidiendo
dormir (o  u)
durmiendo
•Juan está durmiendo.
•El camarero está sirviendo la comida.

7. Verbos Reflexivos
• Reflexive or object pronouns can be placed
before the form of estar, or attached to the
end of the present participle.
Bañarse=
Yo ME estoy bañando.
Yo estoy bañándoME.
Vestirse=
Yo ME estoy vistiendo.
Yo estoy vistiéndoME.
