CONCEPTOS
POPULATION, a set of living things of the same SPECIES,
live in the same área at the same time
POBLACION , CONJUNTO DE SERES DE LA MISMA
ESPECIE.
COMMUNITY ,group de populations that live in the same
área.
COMUNIDAD , GRUPO DE POBLACION QUE CONVIVEN
EN LA MISMA AREA , POR EJEMPLO , LOS PECES , , CON
LOS PINGUINOS Y LOS LEONES.
ECOSYSTEM , group formed by communities , their
environment and the inteactions between them
ECOSISTEMA , LO FORMA UN GRUPO DE VARIAS
COMUNIDADES , CUYO MEDIO AMBIENTE ES COMUN Y
HAY INTERACCION ENTRE ELLOS.
2. 2
Vocabulary
Living things seres vivos
Same species misma especie
Environment medio ambiente
Between entre
Species grupo de seres vivos de igual
características
Offspring descendencia
3. 3
AN ECOSYSTEM AND ITS COMPONENTS
QUIENES COMPONEN UN ECOSISTEMA?
Be two fundamental components :
BIOTICS THINGS , which are all living things
ABIOTIC THINGS , which are non-living things in an
ecosystem
BIOTIC FACTORS ( factores con vida)
Are all of the living things that live in it, example:
Types of plants
Types of animals
Fungi
Bacterias
ABIOTIC FACTORS ( factores sin vida)
All of the non-living things in a ecosystem, example:
Wáter
Rocks
Air
Light
Temperatura
sobrevivir.Los factors abiotic and biotic always INTERACT
4. 4
VERY IMPORTANT
Inert and non-living aren’t the same

HOW ANIMALS MOVE
medios ambientes.
The animals are:
Terrestrial
Aquatic
Fly
Move in water and on land
VOCABULARY
Feet Patas
Elongated body alargado cuerpo
Fins aleta
Water agua
Developed desarrollar
6. 6
Light bones huesos livianos
Mixed mezcla
Land tierra
Wings alas
TEETH FOR EATING ( dientes para comer)
Herbivores, have large teeth and flat molars ( largos
dientes y planos molares), comen vegetables.
Carnivores , have large , sharp fangs, ( largos y
filudos colmillos) comen meat.
Omnivores , have flat teeth and molars and slightly
sharp fangs. ( planos dientes, y molares y delgados
filudos colmillos.
ANIMAL BODY COVERINGS
Some animals posses TOUGH BODY COVERING ,
armadillo
Some animals posses protect with SKIN LOSING
WATER IN VERY DRY ENVIRONMENTS.
7. 7
Some animals from COLD environment , prevent
the loss of heat , zorro artico.
depredadores.
HOW ANIMALS PROTECT THEMSELVES
cosas:
Cold
Heat
Lack of water ( falta de agua)
Attacks of predators
Las formas de protegerse son:
Camouflage , example lions
Mimicry , (mimetismo) example hoverfly
Behavior( comportamiento) example turtle.
ADAPTATIONS IN PLANTS
How do they resist heat?
(como resisten la temperatura)
Example , succulents , cactus , have water inside the
plants.
8. 8
How do resist cold?
( como resisten el frío)
Example Deciduous , produce news leaves in the
spring.
How do they receive adequate light?
( captan la mayor cantidad de luz)
Many plants have grow huge leaves .( grandes hojas)
THE FOOD CHAIN
necesita.
PRODUCERS , they use sun light and other substances
to produce their food.
CONSUMERS, they obtain energy by eating other living
things. Animals consumer can be herbivores, carnivores
or omnivores.
DECOMPOSERS, they transform the remains and waste
into other substances be used by producers to make
food, example Fungi and Bacterias.
These relationships can be using diagram called a
FOOD CHAIN
