2. Las oraciones en inglés por lo general tienen solamente un verbo, pero pueden
tener varias frases verbales. Las frases verbales se construyen usando el
infinitivo, el participio presente, o el participio pasado, y sus correspondientes
complementos.
3. Muy a menudo el añadirle una preposición al verbo, cambia completamente el
significado del verbo original. Además, a veces la misma combinación de
verbo + preposición tiene más de un significado dependiendo del contexto. A
continuación damos algunos ejemplos comunes de frases verbales en inglés.

John agreed to run for president.
To write was his ambition.
The man stopped to rest.
Reading books in the train gives me a headache.
Buildings constructed during the depression are substandard.
Students drinking on campus will be expelled.

'to put in'

'to get away'

'to get along'
They get along very well together – Se llevan muy bien juntos
How are you getting along – ¿Cómo estás manejando las cosas?/¿Cómo van las

'to look up to'
We have always looked up to John – Siempre hemos admirado a John
'to look down on'
My father-in-law has always looked down on me – Mi suegro siempre me ha mirado

10. TO MAKE - HACER
'to make up‘
They like to make up stories – A ellos les gusta fabricar historias

Nota: La palabra ‘make-up’ también significa ‘maquillaje’
