1. SIMPLE PRESENT Y PRESENT CONTINUOS

2. El presente simple se usa para indicar acciones que son habituales o acciones
que ocurren pero no necesariamente en el momento en que se habla.
El PRESENTE SIMPLE se utiliza para hablar de estados permanentes, rutinas o
hábitos.
Mary goes to the beach every Sunday.
* Recuerda que la tercera persona del Presente Simple lleva '-s'. Además,
necesitamos el auxiliar (do/does) para formar la interrogativa y negativa.

3. EXAMPLES:
1-I go shopping with my friends
2-James studies German at university.
3-He reads to the children
4-My parents live in the south
5-Jane works in Italy every summer.
6-Water boils at 100 Celsius degrees.
7- My friends have a car.
8-She stops in front of the school

4. · Existen verbos que sólo pueden utilizarse en presente simple:

DEPEND FORGET
MEAN REMEMBER

5. El presente continuo es un tiempo verbal que indica una acción que
está ocurriendo en el momento en que se habla. Es bastante parecido
a, por ejemplo, ‘comiendo’, ‘caminando’, ‘diciendo’, etc. En el inglés
coloquial significa también algo que va a ocurrir muy pronto.

6. EXAMPLES:
1-I am studying for my exam.
2-I am cleaning the house.
3-Robert is driving to the supermarket.
4-The mechanic is fixing our car.
5-Mary is playing the guitar now.
6-Take an umbrella. It´s raining.
7-Let´s go to the park! The sun is shinning.
8-They are working in the garage at the moment.

7. Where are you going? – ¿Dónde van ustedes?
We are going to the office – Vamos a la oficina
What are they doing tomorrow night? – ¿Qué hacen ellos mañana por la
noche?
They are going to the party – Ellos van a la fiesta
Why are they working today? – ¿Por que están trabajando hoy?
They are finishing what they couldn’t finish yesterday – Están terminando
lo que no pudieron terminar ayer.
What are you doing right now? – ¿Qué estás haciendo ahora mismo?

8. Note la diferencia entre el presente simple y el presente
continuo en inglés. Hablantes de español a menudo se
confunden entre estos dos tiempos verbales.
Presente simple I take my mother to the hospital – Llevo
mi mamá al hospital
Presente continuo am taking my mother to the hospital –
Estoy llevando mi mama al hospital
