2. El subjuntivo
The
subjunctive ===> the mood of might

You need to keep in mind that if the first
verb in the sentence is a WEDDING verb
and there is a new subject in the second
clause of the sentence, you use the
subjunctive.
3. Examples:
Espero que mis estudiantes aprendan el uso
del subjuntivo.
Es necesario que estudien el subjuntivo.
Ojalá que el exámen de español sea fácil.
Me alegro que estén bien.
**If you have the same subject in both
clauses, do not use subjunctive.

7. Gabriel García Márquez
Gabriel García Márquez es un novelista colombiano. Una
de sus novelas más populares es Cien Años de
Soledad, que escribió en el año 1967.
En Cien Años de Soledad, García Márquez habla de la
vida en un pueblo que se llama Macondo y la gente que
vivía ahí. Unos personajes principales en este pueblo son los
miembros de la familia Buendía.
García Márquez nació en Colombia en el año 1928 y se
crió con sus abuelos hasta tener ocho años.
Cuando era joven, García Márquez se dedicaba al
periodismo. Después, escribió varias novelas y en el año
1982, ganó el Premio Nóbel de Literatura. Sigue escribiendo
novelas y guiones para películas.

10. Reporting questions
Another kind of speech you might want to report
in talking to someone is what others "ask" you.
Pedir and preguntar both mean to ask. They follow
the same rules for reporting speech as decir.
Preguntar is used to ask a question and is followed
by a question word in the indicative. Me pregunta
qué voy a hacer mañana.
Me preguntó qué iba a hacer.
Preguntar is used to ask a yes/no question by using
preguntar + si. Le pregunto si vive cerca de aquí.
Le pregunté si vivía cerca de aquí.
