- Cerca del 60% de los RN atermino y el 80% de
los RN pretermino.
- En la mayoria constituye un evento
fisiologico
- Se caracteriza por una coloración amarillenta
secundaria a la bilirrubina

 La destrucción de los glóbulos rojos aporta el
75 %
 El restante 25% es aportado por la
eritropoyesis inefectiva
