La arquitectura ecléctica e historicista en Latinoamérica se caracteriza por combinar elementos de diferentes estilos arquitectónicos, tanto del pasado como del presente. Esta corriente arquitectónica surgió en el siglo XIX y se manifestó principalmente en la construcción de edificios públicos, institucionales y residenciales. En esta arquitectura, se pueden apreciar elementos de estilos como el neoclásico, renacentista, barroco, gótico, entre otros, los cuales se mezclan de manera armoniosa en la estructura del edificio. Además, se presta especial atención a los detalles decorativos y ornamentales, dando como resultado construcciones elegantes y exuberantes. Algunos ejemplos característicos de la arquitectura ecléctica e historicista en Latinoamérica son el Palacio de las Bellas Artes en México, el Teatro Nacional de Costa Rica, y el Palacio Barolo en Argentina. Estas construcciones reflejan la influencia de la arquitectura europea y la aspiración de las sociedades latinoamericanas por emular el esplendor y la grandeza de edificios históricos en sus propias ciudades.
