4. Desterrando la enseñanza magistral
El aprendizaje basado en problemas
nace en la década de los 70 en el
contexto de la enseñanza Universitaria
de Medicina en Canadá. Un grupo de
profesores de la universidad se dio
cuenta de que la enseñanza
tradicional no atendía adecuadamente
a las necesidades educativas de su
alumnado
Se dieron cuenta de que era necesaria
una aplicación más práctica, centrada
en el estudiante y en el desarrollo de
habilidades aplicables en su campo
profesional

5. El ABP surge de la necesidad de desterrar las clases
magistrales que prioriza el contenido teórico para dar
paso a una nueva metodología centrada en el alumno
Este proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje parte de un
problema práctico y aplicable a la realidad que el
alumno debe resolver con ayuda del grupo,
desarrollando así habilidades sociales de interacción en
pequeños grupos, fomentando el pensamiento crítico y
el aprendizaje significativo

Al contrario que en la enseñanza tradicional, en el ABP el aprendizaje está
centrado en el alumno y en un problema que este debe resolver
A través de dicha resolución se consigue que el alumno desarrolle
habilidades para el ejercicio de su práctica profesional
Este proceso se lleva a cabo de manera autodidacta por parte del
alumno, que trabaja en pequeños grupos, siendo el profesor un guía
durante el proceso
