Este documento presenta la metodología TEACCH para alumnos con trastorno del espectro autista. TEACCH es un programa desarrollado en 1966 en la Universidad de Carolina del Norte para favorecer la educación de estos alumnos y evitar su institucionalización. Se basa en una evaluación individualizada, un plan de trabajo personalizado y una estructuración física clara del aula según los objetivos de cada alumno. La metodología enfatiza el apoyo visual, la comprensión de la "cultura autista" y el trabajo en

● Se evalúa el punto de partida de cada alumno en cuanto a capacidad y
necesidades y prioridades (también contando con la familia)
● Se elabora un plan completamente individualizado en el que se avanzará
progresivamente desde dicho punto de partida

TEACCH entiende el autismo como una “cultura diferente” y el papel del agente educativo es el
de comprender la cultura autista para tratar de acercar al sujeto a la cultura neurotípica

TEACCH ES PARA TODOS
LOS TEA?
No debemos meter a todo el alumnado en el espectro “en el
mismo saco”. TEACCH es una metodología muy
interesante y eficaz en el trabajo con alumnado con TEA y
discapacidad intelectual o retraso severo en el lenguaje,
pero no deja de ver el autismo como un déficit

capacidad se beneficiará de metodologías destinadas al
desarrollo del talento y otras medidas educativas dirigidas al
alumnado de alta capacidad

Para salir de la idea de que el autismo es una discapacidad
en sí misma, entre la población autista se pretende desterrar
el término trastorno y sustituirlo por el de Condición del
